View Full Version : Vox Populi--Week 6, Part 2
Taylor Twellman and Clint Dempsey received equal numbers of votes this week. I thought about casting a tie-breaking vote, but decided it would be more fun to vote them both off. This means everyone should now vote for two players to be added to the twenty-one listed below.
Keller, Howard, Hahnemann
Cherundolo, Onyewu, Lewis, Bocanegra, Hejduk, Gibbs, Spector, Berhalter
Mastroeni, O'Brien, Reyna, Beasley, Convey, Ralston
Donovan, Johnson, McBride, Wolff
With respect to injuries, an injury that makes it unlikely that a player can be near 100% next June should be taken into account when voting. Short-term injuries obviously should not. Remember we are choosing a squad for June not next week. Also please vote based upon what YOU would do rather than what you think Arena will do. Have at it.

Albright and, hmmm, need a back-up for Mastroeni -- until we see Cher or Spector get a shot at it at least -- umm, having trouble, let's see, Carroll, no, Zavagnin, no, Armas, no well, I'm left with Olsen or an uncapped Clark. Guess I have to go with Olsen for now. Ackk.

Clark -- No way our starting CMs aren't going to need either a rest or a sub to prevent card accumulation problems.
Ching -- Scotland performance was not as bad as it might have looked, given the phase of his recovery (didn't have the legs to get his body right on those headers he missed); he combines well, unfortunatey Wolff couldn't finish or ran the wrong way every other time.

I'll go with Zavagnin and Dempsey back on.
Clark should get an opportunity to beat out Zavagnin prior to the Cup, but at this stage, this squad needs another d-mid, and Kerry's the one who was done it surprisingly well for the team in his chances.
Dempsey is an x-factor player, and a guy I'd love to bring off of the bench late in the game. He doesn't have a clear role on this squad other than that, but if you envision us down by a goal or in a tie game needing a win, who else do you want running on to the field? (Assume LD and DMB started the game).
