It's decent. Which team are you trying out for?

And congrats. It's hard to go as far as you have so far. :)

uhm how good are the players?

Jörg Albertz (former German international), Marcus Feinbier (UEFA Cup winner 1988), as well as some other former Bundesliga and Turkish 1st division players are playing there.

Whatever, I’d just like to know where’s he played so far. Because I guess he’s eighteen now, and if he hasn’t been on some pretty serious teams so far, there wouldn’t be much point in him trying out with Fortuna.

for the experience perhaps? The worst thing Fortuna can say is "thanks, but no thanks."

Exactly. I wonder how many people told Jay Denny not to waste his time. And even if he doesn't make the squad, it would not be unheard of for the club to reccomend him to another club a little bit down the league structure. Absolutely nothing to loose by trying out.

Good luck, anyway! And if you should ever meet Die Toten Hosen, get a few autographs for me! :-D

Fortuna Düsseldorf is sponsored by "Die Toten Hosen", the most popular german punk/hardrock-band. Pretty cool place to play. They are currently seventh in Regionalliga Nord and have quite a following. Good luck.

That was quite a long time ago actually (both the sponsorship deal and Die Toten Hosen playing punk ;)).

Plus aren't and weren't die Ärzte more popular than die Toten Hosen besides when they took they'r time out)?

neither die hosen nor die ärzte have had anything to do with punk rock for ages, if ever. fun-pop if anything, but there are people regarding green day as punk rock, so....
and btw, the toten hosen still have a thing about the sponsorship on their webpage. the hell if i know if they pay their bills.

Well, even Avril Lavigne qualified for punk rock at some point of time... well, Punk for me is to have fun, but from a musicians point of view neither DÄ nor DTH have had a punk rock song since the 80ies.
Even worse is though when you hear the people at 89.0 RTL say 'now with 11% more rock' and they play Kelly Clarkson. She makes good pop music, but some guitarr riffs don#t qualify the music as rock.
I miss Project 89.0. (for the record: we have no rock radio in the Hanover area, apart for some themenights at Radio Flora and the so called Classic Rock station Radio 21. They play classic pop most of the time, though. Makes me sick.

German Radio is a catastrophe in general. Worse since John Peel died. I´m beginning to enjoy Internet Radio. Screamer Radio is a pretty good freeware tool with a lot of interesting preset stations and it´s slim.

Well, Delta radio up in the north is ok I guess (miles better than anything we get here, worse than most of what's aired in the US though), but I have to thank god for MP3 players. without em I couldn't listen to music sitting in a car.

Who are you with? You can PM me if you like. I have some contacts re Cdns in Germany.

Good luck anyway. They used to have a visible Cdn presence near Dusseldorf when I was a bit younger than you (a long time ago!). You might get a nod or two from old timers if you wear a flag on your lapel.

For the record, neither Die Toten Hosen, Die Ärzte, Avril Lavigne nor Kelly Clarkson should ever be regarded as punk.

Die Toten Hosen are a classic ******** rock arena band. Die Ärzte are maybe the closest of the bunch, but really just pop now, Avril is manufactured crap and I don't think I even need to comment on Clarkson.

And yes, German radio is awful, and has gotten much worse since John Peel's passing, may he rest in peace.
