Not sure if this is posted yet anywhere, but BA is prepared to look at Freddy Adu in the first camp of 06.

Good for Freddy.

I guess it was too hard to scroll down about half a page and find this thread (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=272679).

Then again, maybe you thought the thread title was referring to a different Freddy or something.

Who should get the nod, Adu or Rossi? I say Rossi as Adu is young and will get many more opportunities - Rossi at 20 needs to be lassoed now and branded with an USA iron.

this Adu refers to Michael Ricketts. Ricketts has a little known nickname of "Adoo" ... sometimes it's misspelled.

True - Rossi isn't that much older than Adu. Sort of Scarey.

Which United player would you take...
The one who is used as a substitute in Manchester?
Or the one who is a sometimes starter, sometimes sub in DC?

adu, rossi, rolfe...

I think ONE and only ONE will make the final 23 roster.....

if the politics is settled, rossi would be the guy...

freddy needs to have a spactacular january camp, canada, norway, japan friendlies need to go very well...

and rolfe is the default guy, if the other two don't pan out

I'd have to disagree--I really don't see Freddy beating out Rolfe and Rossi is not going to do anything to jeopardize his chances of playing with Italy's national team in 2010. So, as I see it, Rolfe is the frontrunner at this point.

I also think Rolfe is on the outside looking in right now. I think he's behind Wolff and the other backup will be more of a target forward. A spot is open for either Ching or Twellman, if only one of them will grab it.

I agree.

The Rossi thing has gone form funny, to annoying to just plain disturbing.
From reasonable posters to.

When Rossi accepts a call up this spring then we will see.
To do that he has to convince dada, SAF to leave Man U and shun Italy.

Do you guys really think Italy would pick him if he went to our camp, didn't play, and pulled out because he wanted to wait for the Azurri? Just the thought of him even being in the US camp would screw him.

The kid would have to be the next Maradona after that to play for Italy.

Sounds like a bunch of 14 year olds having wet dreams here.

Read the above post. He is not going to screw his chances with Italy for 2010.
BA is also not going to take him if he doesn't show up in a camp, and then wants to be included for the WC for the lat set of warm up matches. No way in hell that happens. Do you think Italy is going to have it's hand forced by an 18 year old playing in a league who most Italians feel has very weak defenses and is limites tactically, outside of a couple of teams?

Nuts guys. Juts plain nuts.

Go Rolfe! Darkhorse, along with Pearce!

rolfe being the default guy if rossi nor adu pan out means rolfe is the LEADING contender....

mainly because rossi has a loyalty to italy, meaking him unlikely...

and adu having to show development in a very short period of time...

still, I'd agree rolfe, ching, twellman might be fighting for the last forward slot...

and since in 2002 arena did NOT go with a 2nd target guy to back-up mcbride, does 2002 mean he'll do the same in 2006...

also, I'd prefer another forward with mobility, which is rolfe...

although the kicker is donovan as forward provides that mobility option, meaning ching or twellman get back into the equation

Rossi must have played "up" in New Jersey then. Apparently you can't see the wood from the trees. By the world cup he will be 19 1/2 so your punctilliousness is somewhat irrelevant. Do you dispute that it would be a good idea to have him play for the US or not? THAT is the major issue.
