FC Dallas defender Chris Gbandi and midfielder Arturo Alvarez, Colorado Rapids defender Ricky Lewis, Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Josh Gardner and Kansas City Wizards midfielder Davy Arnaud are among the Houston products who will play in the Soccer Hour with Glenn Davis' All-Star Game for Soccer Awareness at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 21 at Pin Oak Middle School in Bellaire.

I heard back from Glenn and he said some former Houston Hotshots, current MLS'ers and other college/pro-am players will have a go at each other in what should be a fun match to see. Admission is free!

I'm there. Anyone esle plan on being there?

Mods - it may help avoid confusion if you could edit the thread title to add the date - 12/21. Thanks.

Maybe this event is where most of us that want any part of a supporters group should hook up....just a thought.

Sounds like a great idea. I'll be heading away from Houston for the Christmas season, so I can't make it. Hopefully a meeting can get set up, and keep me updated.

That sounds like a plan. I get off work at 5:30 or so, so it'll take me a little while to make it all the way out there with the traffic and all, but I'll be there.

We can set up a time after all the holidays are over to have a more general meeting where more people can attend. But we can definitely get the ball rolling Wednesday.

Bump.

And:

The event is designed to bring neighbors together to reflect, celebrate and talk about the past, present and future of soccer in the city and its surroundings.

It's designed to be a vehicle of promotion for a game that emotionally takes us to so many different places.

The match is free of charge and open to the public. It will include appearances by Gbandi (FC Dallas), Arturo Alvarez (FC Dallas), Ramon Nuņez (FC Dallas), Josh Gardner (L.A. Galaxy) and Ricky Lewis (Colorado Rapids). For information go to bellairesoccerclub.org.

My radio program, the Soccer Hour, which airs at 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, will do its first live remote broadcast. On Soccer, Houston Chronicle (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/soc/3532539.html)

I'm not sure if that's supposed to be toward the end of Channel 2's 10:00 pm newscast or during the Sports Extra show that starts at 10:35, but anyway, there you go.
