The ladies do love velour. I kinda like this track top a little better.

But i think that's because i'm not a big fan of Burgandy/Maroon or whatever they call it now. It reminds me of my parents Oldsmobuick.

gee, I wonder why  it's cause dook sucks.
No its because North Carolina doesn't win as much. North Carolina has gotten the top recruits for about the last 30 years and only have what, three titles? Duke has racked up that many in the last 15, with players like Bobby Hurley and Christian Laettner, not Michael Jordan and James Worthy. That's why Coach K is the best. I don't understand why people hate Duke so much, i guess their just jealous of the success, but really, Coach K has done it with class.

If you've ever listened to Mike and Mike in the morning, then you would have also heard him do the same about Notre Dame football (If I'm not mistaken he has kids that graduated from there). He also does the same for UNC hoops, it just doesn't get blown up like it does with Duke because people don't feel the same bitterness towards UNC as they do Duke.
That last part's total bullshit. Even when Duke had that year when they had the losing record, Dickie V was practically orgasming while talking about the courage of the Duke players. And I felt terrible for the guy who was calling the OT game with him, where one of the Duke players hit the shot at the buzzer. He probably had to clean protein stains off of his suit.

I think it goes beyond the basketball court. It's the whole elite Private school vs. Public school. Most people see Duke and think they either can't get in (which is true) or don't have enough money to go. This creates alot of hatred, and then they see them kicking arse on the basketball court and they place their hatred of the school on the team. Of course when one thinks about it, UNC is really hard to get into as well (especially for out-of-state students) and is also really expensive for a state school.

I think part of it is that it's a better school, academically so it gets interpreted as snobby. People like to cheer for the underdog or the average joe.

I really don't know how great of a school Duke was before Coach K came. But I'll guarantee you its alot better now. I think the thing with Duke is that they are right there almost every year, they are a dynasty and people get sick of it. Another reason is that they have never really had "cool" players, they bring in responsible kids, and people see them as goody goodies. They never have the off court problems that other teams have and people never really get the chance to laugh at them, which just builds the resentment even more.

Yeah, I got rejected by UNC, despite the fact that Northwestern had no problem accepting me. It's not really that expensive though, especially for out-of-state. Penn State costs about double what UNC does. But I think that people hate Duke just because the media seems so in love with them. I will say that I respect Coach K and the program a lot (I covered them in the Sweet 16 when I was at Syracuse), but they seem to get the benefit of the doubt all the time. I've heard some really interesting stories about the way Coach K recruits and deals with his players (a little bit of which came out a couple of years ago when Avery came out for the draft and K totally shunned him). I know that all programs have their dirty little secrets, but Duke's seem to be just totally ignored.

LOL, guess I should refresh more often. I lived out there for 5 years though so I got the UNC or Duke ques. a lot. Finally I got to the point where I would just say "neither, I'm a razorback fan." They would just look at me funny and walk off, but at least it got them to get off my back.

I got rejected by Duke coming out of high school.

I wouldn't know about the costs of UNC, but I thought it was at least 20 K for out-of-state?

As far as the way K recruits, he pretty much hand picks players today and there is really not much competition most of the time. As far as what he did in the past though, I'm sure he did do some dirty things just like every other coach has probably done.

#1 Laugh: #3-UNLV RUNNIN’ ALL OVER DUKE IN 1990

As a Carolina fan...if you can’t win it, then please don’t let Dook win it. Well, in 1990...they were lambasted by UNLV in the title game. UNLV beat Duke 103-73 in what is still the most lopsided loss in championship game history. But the best is watching Bobby Hurley running off the court to tend to his diarrhea issues....then complaining of dreaming about sharks chasing him. Classic!!! This game topped an emotional tournament that saw Tate George’s game winning shot.....and Loyola Marymount becoming sentimental favorites after Hank Gathers died during the WCC tournament.

When I applied back in '98, it was running about $10K-$13K per year and was named U.S. News and World Report's "Best Value". I'm sure it's more expensive now, but it's cheaper than a lot of other schools. (shudders after realizing what he paid at Syracuse)

Yeah, but that was really the start of Dukes dynasty and that loss was avenged the next year when Duke took down an undefeated UNLV. The fact that UNLV was UNLV and their players were constantly getting shot in crack deals and photographed with mobsters just made the victory that year even sweeter.
