I figured this could use a thread of its own.

I'll start with a question.

I've got the new 60 GB video iPod and I'm thinking of asking for a boom box that I can plug it into for a Christmas present. Does anyone have an opinion on the Altec Lansing inMotion IM7 (http://www.alteclansing.com/product_details.asp?pID=IM7)?

The retail price is $249, but it can be had from Amazon for $205.

It runs on batteries or AC, so it would be perfect for tailgate parties next soccer season. :)

And the video outputs are nice, too. Though the quality won't be the best, at least you have something to watch if you're in a hotel of visiting friends and everyone goes to bed early. I love my cheap portable DVD player for that exact reason. When we stay out of town, we can usually hook the DVD player up to the in-room TV and watch DVDs that we bring. With that thing, you can watch whatever you have stored.

I really want that Bose System one they have. I think it's the prettiest one out there. But the price, like everything Bose, is ridiculously high for what you're getting.

This one you want is pretty nice looking, though. I could do that. But why is a simple speaker system costing $200+ to start with? I mean there's really nothing there but speakers, a docking port, and some plastic. Maybe once more of these become available, they'll be priced more reasonably.

The accessory I want for the iPod (which I would probably never use) is the iPod mixing table. I love the idea of being able to have an infinate number of songs at your disposal with the lock-and-load option of having a stack of iPods there, and the capabillity of fading songs in and out instead of just one after another like the iPod does.
