PASCAL CYGAN
At a club where the beautiful people (and Lauren) play beautiful football, Cygan and Gilberto Silva must giggle in the changing rooms and wonder how they've sneaked into the system without a rabbit's foot, four-leaf clover and horseshoe in tow.
Cygan, despite being a defender so inept he should be playing alongside Gary Breen at Sunderland, has played more minutes in the Premiership this season than Robin Van Persie, is the third-choice centre-half at a club with a genuine chance of winning the Champions League and will probably play for the Gunners for the rest of his career on a wage of around £20,000 a week.
So he probably doesn't give a flying fumble that pretty much everyone except Mrs Cygan (probably) thinks he's rubbish...
DARREN FLETCHER
One Football365 reader even went so far as to suggest that Fletcher is suffering from some kind of terminal illness and his last wish, made true by the Reach For A Dream charity, was to play Premiership football. That's how desperate the search for explanations has become as stats show that Fletcher - a player with vision only to pass back to Rio Ferdinand - has started 11 Premiership games this season for one of the best three teams in England.
Is it because he is Scottish? Is Fergie trying to ruin the Glazers' club from the inside? We must know, because for the life of us we can't see what Dazza Fletcher has over other ManYoo rejects like Luke Chadwick. He's not even that much better looking...

Cygan-yes we all know he's not that talented, but would anyone notice this if he wasn't playing so much? And he's only been getting all this playing time because of the injuries Arsenal have had at the back four all season.
Fletcher-played very well against Arsenal in the 2004 FA Cup SemiFinal, has all gone pear-shaped since.

If Cygan was a first-string player, yes we could say he stinks. As a third string player he is about what one would expect.

To place Cygan and Gilberto in the same category points to football idiocy.

Gilberto = adequate, average, solid footballer
Cygan = band-aid fix and should drop to his knees every morning and thank
G-d that he is able to even suit up for a club like Arsenal.

Cygan isn't the greatest player in the world, he doesn't claim to be. What he is is a steady centre back who does a decent enough job when we have several injuries. He always gives 100% and doesn't try to hide on the pitch. He is actually quite good when he has the ball on the floor (far better than Campbell). He is now playing out of position at left back in a position that highlights his weak points (pace and turning ability).
I doubt Pascal visits Big Soccer but can it really help him to be constantly criticized by his own supporters Does it make him play better?
Yes, he is one of the weaker players on the team but as long as he wears an Arsenal shirt I intend to speak up for him, whoever puts him down!

the above link was intended to be funny. I some how doubt Fletcher made it to Manchester United through the "make a wish foundation".
no serious discussion of Cygan please

"Adequate" and "Average"? Perhaps someone should tell Brazil's NT about that, since they consider him somewhat indespensible. They don't call him "The Wall" for nothing...

Maybe Steve Bould, current Academy Coach and legendary defender from the "Famous Four Fortress Defense" could pull Cygan aside and:
First:
Kick his @ss and toughen him up!
and then
Teach him how to play STELLAR defense.

That's because Brasil is not known for tough physical play, that would be their ARG neighbors.

Agreed, I don't think he is the best player we have, and he isn't a left back. But one thing I hated was in Thun there was some fat arse behind me screaming at him saying he was ******** and calling for him to be sent off. Funny how in the first ten minutes the bloke had loudly said it was his first away match.....!!
We don't need to buy, we have a great squad, 2nd in the Prem and top of the group in the Champions League, still in both Cups. Not bad at all.

Well in my head we're second as we have a game in hand....... :o
Ok, so I actually haven't looked at a table for weeks, nor will I until Feb - but we will be 2nd in April when we play Man U.

I am thrilled at our position in both Cups, CL, and the Prem. With all the injuries and everyone saying that we are so over with.
I give Cygan stick during matches, but I also praise him. I want him to do well because he represents Arsenal, so seeing him suck it up out there is not in the best interest for anyone. Ask anyone, I yell constantly at the tele during a sporting event...not just insults, but praise when warranted.

This is probably a good life move, since the US Surgeon General has issues a warning:
Staring at the Prem table on a daily basis can and WILL cause a heart-attack!

Can we frame this or something ? as it's spot on. Cygan didn't cost £28 mill like another Cb that regularly gets slated, he's not a 1st choice defender, but he's an honest defender, and he's trying to fill a role that isn't his...

I've been known to throw a little crap towards Cygan but he's not as crap as some make him out to be.
Grimster, sorry but seems like I've pimped you all the rep I can for now. You've got more coming later though.
Rep to you, Miles.
