That's GOT to be a wind-up.

Why on earth would Rangers refuse the possibility of giving Alex the bump without having to pay him off?!

I really can't understand what's going on at Rangers at the moment. Why has McLeish not been sacked? Is there someone lined up to take his job if he 'fails' by next week? Will he even keep his job if they beat Inter? Why reject an approach for him?

Bottom line is McLeish has stuffed up Rangers this season and i'm lovin it :D

Pompey say they're still interested. If they're still looking for a manager after the Inter game....

No-one else could do any better.

That's not true at all. You can blame the players but it's McLeish's fault that these players are there in the first place. He has made some awful signings, not just with Rangers but also when he was at Hibs. He also has changes the line-up far to much, it's a team he assembled yet he doesn't have a clue what the best starting 11 is, even when they're all fit.

Fanfan, Hemdani, Jeffers, Bernard, Mladenovic, Nieto, Maniero, Murray, Djordjic, Vignal, Vanoli, Capucho, Berg, Emerson, Thompson, Ostenstad - How many bad signings can one manager make?!

Even with all the bad signings--and I'm not sure all of those are bad--Rangers have plenty to work with. It is not like the clubs they are trying to keep pace with are rich. It seems to me that he should have been offloaded here.

While I am loving it as well I think they are having problems finding someone to come in as they will have to stretch funds to bring in talent. Anyone know which players are on loan to the gers? 6 mos or the season?

With tongue firmly in cheek, here's the solution to Rangers' problems:

Don't sack McLeish. Use the 800,000 quid you save from his severance package to offer Roy 'Shove it up yer bollocks' Keane an 18 month contract. His leadership qualities will transform the assorted slackers and headless chickens in the team into an SPL winning side.

As an added bonus, think how sick the Mhanky Mhob would be. :)

Again, I ask - why did Rangers not use this opportunity to have Pompey buy out his contract, as it seems increasingly likely that they'll have to pay him off?

It really shows that the problem might not be Eck per se--the board must be incompetent as well. The OF will not be able to bring in decent players if they are not assured of a spot in Europe. Begs the question of whether this season is an anomaly that will soon correct itself, or has the status quo changed in Scotland?

Many Rangers fans are asking the same thing. I cannot understand it! Unless we get Paul Le Guen now there is going to be uproar.

Not too sure if the status quo can change but I think I know what you mean.

The gap between the top and bottom is getting smaller but not because the others are catching up on Celtic and Rangers, more they are dropping down to the level of the rest

Funny situation, leaving aside Portsmouth's motivation for wanting to capture McLeish. Is money behind this?

Seems odd that given the results that Eck is still with Rangers. I can only think that a potential new guy is unable to take over for a while for whatever reason, and Ecks filling in. Stating that would make Eck's difficult job impossible.
