I have tickets for a couple of group stage games and a quarterfinal. The FIFA website was originally quite clear that tickets could not be sold or swapped, but more recently has a statement about an "official" exchange site.

Depending on the Dec. 9 results, I may or may not want to keep my current tickets -- anybody have insight about whether and how they will clamp down on resellers or exchangers and how to get around it? No offense to anybody out there, but if my group game is Togo against Trinidad & Tobago, I'd like to unload my tickets and go buy other tickets -- just not sure how all that will work given the tight security measures FIFA has (apparently) been putting in place.

I also have noticed that plenty of brokers are offering tickets for both buying and selling -- they must have a good sense of how this will all work...

Anybody know anything?

my advice: if you got tickets, keep it. i believe you wont have a big chance to get another ticket, when the tickets are on sale now because every fans wants tickets.

Brokers know that they'll be able to buy tickets and they won't hesitate to sell them to you. They don't care much whether you can actually get to see the match. I don't suppose the security arrangements will really mean that the name on the ticket has to be your name, but you never know.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the official exchange mechanism works. I can't imagine you and I are the only two people who'll be looking to swap tickets.

NO offence taken... however if you do indeed receive Trinidad vs Togo or Trinidad vs anybody... consider this your first offer.... :D

Does anyone have a pointer to any official and detailed information on how to legally re-sell/transfer tickets? This has to be the murkiest part of the whole World Cup ticket process.

I'm in a group of people that is large enough that it is not 100% certain we will all be able to get away from our jobs/lives for the trip to Germany 6 months from now. We'd at least like to know how we go about transferring a ticket and/or selling it if we must.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The 2006 FIFA World Cup™ Organising Committee (OC) is to operate an internet ticket portal to facilitate ownership transfers and reselling of 2006 FIFA World Cup™ match tickets

The online platform, to be run in co-operation with FIFA, is currently scheduled to open on 1 February 2006

Does this also mean that we can "trade" tickets with eachother? Like lets say I have a game you want..and you have a game I want..can we trade???

"The internet allows everybody to become involved." Transferring tickets to a specific interested party named in advance by the registered holder will also be possible"

yup, that's what it sounds like too me

Thank you. I'd heard rumours but had seen no real information. Knowing the date really helps too.

There are some specialist sites being built, the most interesting that i have found so far being...

What are the others that you have found?

I applied for tickets in the Phase 3 from FIFA, but I was wondering, since I probably won't get many games (or even one), what is the other most reliable and most inexpensive source to buy tickets from?

This is off of the FIFA web site

10. Why will match tickets be personalised?
Tickets will be personalised for security reasons. This measure is intended to support the basic principle of a fair and open sales procedure. It will also serve as an effective deterrent to black market trading. However, the embedded chip will store access information only. Personal information such as names will not be stored.

With this info i think it is safe to say you need not worry about them checking the ID on the ticket when entering the game.

There will still be personal info printed ON the ticket, so they could check against ID if they wanted to. (Or am I missing something?)

I can't imagine it happening though, anyway.

I initially thought they would be spot-checking the tickets and passports of those entering the stadium (say 1 in every 30 or 50 people), so it would be up to the buyer to take the chance (among other options) of trying to entire without matching documentation. A friend of mine who lives in London and does more travelling throughout the EU reminded me, however, that all current passports these days have bar codes, so it's quite possible for them to scan the codes on both ticket and passport of everyone who enters and get them in within a reasonable amount of time. Do with that info what you will.

I've tried ALL of FIFA's condoned methods (Phase I & III + USSF) as efficiently as possible (overnighted my USSF app for Cat 2 tix after spending all day trying to fax it from the first 5 min it was available) and got nothing (Oh, sure, R-16 thru final tix for the Yanks (that's what's left if your conf number is above 9000, and you were passionate/dumb enough to put in for 2 tix to the full tournament- it'll likely wind up being a booby prize, consisting of a $1500, interest-free, six month loan to FIFA.)

So I guess I'll be taking the best bar code-generating software I can find to Germany. It's a shame they can't find a more effective way for passionate fans to get in the game. Instead, they've probably created a similar scenario as US drug laws- making black market tickets more risky and expensive for blind 25-year soccer die-hards like myself.

Hello everybody ,

Does anyone know whether the official portal for ticketing exchanche is already running ?
I could not find anything on the www.fifaworldcup.com and in the customer service.

I have three TST -3 series tickets for all three group games of Czech Republic (vs. USA, Ghana and Italy) . But now it is almost sure that I will not be able to visit all three games with my partners . I would like to attend only one of the games and the tickets for the other two games transfer to other persons .

Does anybody here have idea if this would be possible and where and how to do that ?

Thanks a lot for any help .

Michal
