City snap up midfielder
By Jonne Ylanne - Created on 26 Nov 2005
Tuomas Haapala has revealed he is signing for Manchester City, even though he is unsure as to when he can start playing for the Eastlands club.
The MyPa captain is out of contract in his native Finland but is likely to have to wait until January before having the move ratified.
After impressing during a two-week trial stint, the midfielder has clinched a dream transfer to The Premiership.
Stuart Pearce has decided to snap up the 26-year-old after watching him at close hand.
"Pearce said he wants to keep me for the rest of the season," Haapala told IS Urheilu.
"He saw what I can do on the pitch and that I get along with my team-mates.
"I didn't expect City to offer me a longer contract than this."
Haapala is eager to get his City career started as soon as possible.
"As a matter of fact, I don't even know when I can play," he admitted. "I called my agent straight away and he's checking when I can play."
It all depends on whether he was under contract with MyPa on September 1.

Great news :) :D I'm glad that Man City managed to sign him and hopefully he can start playing asap. We need some more midfielders :)
