I showed my decent kids to the U-19 coach, so hopefully they'll get added.

Proud and amazed that my pitch was chosen to host the first West Indies international. I didn't know about it until after we had lost, though. Heh. I should have told Groundskeeper Emerson to clear out the broken bottles and used prophylactics, huh?

Yeah, you're right about the fitness. I fired a fitness coach and a bowling coach and hired two batting coaches in their place. Now I have three batting and one fielding net for my youngster. He was popping about 900 rating points per week with two nets, so now I'd imagine he'll be at about 13-14k by the end of the season.

I'd really like to see him get national team playing time. And if he keeps getting 195 runs per game, I may not need to train any other batsmen for a while.

But once you get promoted out of IV, you'll have virtually all human opponents, and he won't hit the high 100's as consistently.

But I figure with the number of nets I'm giving him he should have a very high BT rating by next season, and I should be able to afford a decent bowler as well, as well as the pretty good bowler I just pulled out of my youth squad.

We'll see how I fare in DIII. Thus far I've done okay against human opponents in friendlies.

Vallabh Chanderpaul made up for his debut duck with an awesome performance today

When he came in India were in serious trouble, nearly 2 runs behind the required rate of 6.53. His 65* from 45 balls helped them on the way to victory with 11 balls to spare.

Now I just need him to come up woth that kind of performance in the league...

I assume that's U19, because the full India team was beaten by the Windies today. Unfortunately, Seargeant's performance at the highest level continues to lag far behind his league numbers, as his innings was even shorter today than a week ago.

Seargeant went out with a new career ODI run mark today -- 34.

(I'd gladly trade a little off his outstanding strike rate for longer innings, esp. considering the low rate Summers is producing right now.)

Seargeant finally performed to potential for the national side, posting his first half-century in leading the Windies with a total of 68 runs in Pakistan.

Julian also got his first international half-century. :)

A century for Seargeant against Sri Lanka! :D

The Windies are now trying to stave off a late collapse...

Seargeant ran off another century against South Africa and has moved up into the top five of the international batting rankings done at JFW.

Alright, how do I "show him to the managers"?

I also have this guy, who isn't quite as good at keeping, but is better overall I think:

Junior Mason - 20 yo, BT Rating=21,151
LH Batsman, LM Bowler, superb form, fresh
(superb batting form, superb bowling form)
A defensive player with strong leadership skills and worthless experience.
Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: strong
Batting: mediocre Concentration: respectable
Bowling: feeble Consistency: competent
Fielding: proficient

Here are his new stats:

Junior Mason - 20 yo, BT Rating=21,853
LH Batsman, LM Bowler, competent form, sublime
(competent batting form, competent bowling form)
A defensive player with strong leadership skills and worthless experience.
Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: superb
Batting: competent Concentration: proficient
Bowling: feeble Consistency: competent
Fielding: strong

Where do I go again to put him in the "database"??

Which country?

In other news, Seargeant is still third in the latest JFW world batting rankings.

there should be a link in the WI sledging threads if he's from the WI but to be honest... I don't think he'd get anywhere near the NT.

The offsite Windies forum is: http://s14.invisionfree.com/West_Indies_Forum/

I think to get to it you need to register there, then BT-mail Asterix or maybe Nraider to tell him your username on the offsite forum (so that they know you're from the Windies).

For the moment, Asterix seems to be in more for batsmen with some WK skill than WKs with some batting skill. I haven't seen what we're giving up for extras, but as long as they're not too high I'd guess that's the way to go, with only bowlers as specialists.

Does Sri Lanka have a database? My young gun is pretty close to being ready for the U-20 team with a BT Rating of 15,000 and getting five nets per week (will drop to four soon, though).

with the addition of a possible 6th bowler or an optional 6th bowler I think you will see even less specialists in NTs.

In other words, many teams might look something like this..

Specialist Batsmen 1-4
AllRounders 5-7
Keeper 8
Bowlers 9, 10, 11

There will have to be atleast one Bowler who can bat in the all rounder section ie, someone who could make the team as a specialist bowler.

if a team has 3 good allrounders then a specialist keeper is then more of an option.

ps...

its safe to say Theo Owens is the worst u19 player in the world.

He's scored 77 runs in 6 innings as a specialist batsman... his only hope is that he'll one day be a good enough fielder to warrant a place in the team...

I honestly don't know why he's not doing better, here are his stats.

RH Batsman, RH Spin Bowler, strong form, invigorated
(strong batting form, superb bowling form)
A destructive player with woeful leadership skills and woeful experience.

Part of the West Indies U19 squad
