I can't see how he wouldn't play, but I have read a few articles where he stated he wasn't sure.

Essentially he said it was too far in the future to decide, and the past two games against Norway took years off his life. He stated that he isn't as young as he once was.

I don't think he will play in too many friendlies before the World Cup, but I think he will be on the Czech roster.... not matter how old he says he is getting. ;)

I certainly hope he'll play and think he probably will. It's his only change ever to play at a WC.

That was my thinking. I guess right now he is just keeping his options open.

Chances are he wanted to make sure that he wasn't called in for any friendly matches before the World Cup.

I think Pavel Nedved is the best czech player and he is one of the best player in Europa. I think Nedved was not called to any friendly because he is busy with his italian team and he need to be fit for italian league. He is also already 33, an old man:) for soccer,so he need a more rest.I donīt think he need to collect experiences in friendly games. He has enough experience. The danger he might get injured during friendly games is big. The czech national coach knows what Pavel Nedved can and he knows his big talent, he donīt need to "test" him in friendly. I think Nedved will make the WC 06 in Germany. Maybe he has one big dream. To win the WC. I īm sure he will play in the World Cup it seems to be his last opportunity to play in the World Cup. in 2010 he will be even older.

I think Nedved will be one of the most dangerous player in the World cup in Germany.

I think Nedved is someone like role model for younger czech players
and he will be there to support czech team as he did when he helped in play-offs game against Norwey.

He will come if he sees the czech team need him.
And they need him!!

I agree that Nedved will play in the WC if he is at all able. Just looked at Kicker's predicted seedings. Czech Republic is in Pot 3. This almost ensures that the Czech group will be the group of death. Netherlands in Pot 2. Well, the group for Euro 2004 was not easy either. :(

I never forget Czech-Holland game during the European Cup 2004.
It was definitely the best game in this Cup and not only in this cup but probably it is example game in soccer history.!!!

So I would love to see Holland-Czech again, it will be hard game.
But Brazil and USA. It would be hard group.

Well we Germans donīt want to have Holland in our group.
But I donīt think we would like to have czechs.
So Czech and Holland is good. But USA? Hm it would be group of death for them and I like american soccer.

But I Czech-Holland are worth to watch.

I don't mind having the Czechs and Brazil in our group but we've played those Czecks so many times that i'm starting to follow them around.

We where grouped in the Euro 2000 and 2004 plus the qualification for Euro2004 and WC 2006. It's getting rediculous.

What is this "Pot 3"? There are 4 pots but it's not "teirs" like it is for qualifying. Only the first pot is based on ranks, the rest are based on continent.

Pot A: All Seeded teams (GER, BRA, ARG, MEX, ENG, ITA, ESP, FRA)
Pot B: All UEFA teams
Pot C: Combination of CONCACAF/CONMEBOL/AFC/CAF/OFC*
Pot D: Combination of CONCACAF/CONMEBOL/AFC/CAF/OFC*

*CONCACAF have 3 unseeded, CONMEBOL have 2 unseeded, AFC have 4, CAF 5, and OFC 1. So it is possible that CONCACAF and CAF would be grouped in one pot and CONMEBOL/AFC/OFC in another, or CONMEBOL could be with CAF and CONCACAF with AFC and OFC. Either way, no UEFA teams will be in either of those pots.

So basically there is no way Holland, Czechs, and Brazil could all be in the same group, because Holland and the Czechs will both be in Pot B.

The "worst" the Czechs could get would be something like

Brazil/Argentina
Czech Republic
Cote d'Ivoire
USA

or something like that.

There are nine European non-seeds, so one has to be in another pot (i think)

Correct.

So Brazil could be drawn as a seed
Holland from the UEFA pot B
Czech could slip to pot C as the last UEFA team w/ 4 Asian teams, Oceania, and the other two from CONMEBOL
The USA could be drawn from 5 in Africa and 3 remaining CONCACAF.

It's possible, depending upon how they decide to align confeds for Pots C and D.

Ok, I'm going to assume that Sam will let me post information in his forum here. What he said was:
WORLD CUP DRAW: CZECHS IN 3RD POT?
According to German sports magazine Kicker, the Czech Republic could be
in the third pot in the draw for the 2006 World Cup. FIFA is set to base
its seedings on a combination of the country's performances at the last
three World Cup finals and its current world ranking. Because the Czech
Republic didn't, of course, qualify for any of the previous three World
Cup finals, this would mean they'd be ranked 18th out of the 32 finalists.

KICKER'S PREDICTED WORLD CUP SEEDINGS
Pot 1: Brazil, Germany, Spain, Argentina, Italy, England, Mexico,
France;
Pot 2: Netherlands, USA, South Korea, Sweden, Croatia, Costa
Rica, Paraguay, Japan;
Pot 3: Portugal, Czech Republic, Iran, Saudi
Arabia, Serbia & Montenegro, Poland, Tunisia, Ecuador;
Pot 4:
Switzerland, Ivory Coast, Ukraine, Trinidad & Tobago, Australia, Ghana,
Angola, Togo. (Note: FIFA would probably take steps to avoid three
European teams being drawn together in the same group.)

If this turns out to be correct, then we can't face both the US and the Netherlands (well, I'm rather tired of the Netherlands, it would be nice to face someone new in the group stage).

US vs Czech Republic: This would also make for a great viewing party: svickova and Pilsner Urquell and Sam Adams and barbeque. Mom's recipe potato salad would go great with both. I think we would have a full house for that one! :D

USA-Czech Republic would be one of the best games in the World Cup.
Svickova and Pilsner Urquell. I think Americans would love this food.
I donīt think USA played against Czech Republic in the past. Or am I wrong? It would be worth to see both how they play against each other.

Germany have good experience playing against both USA and Czech Republic.

Dunno what the heck svickova is, but I've had plenty of Pilsner Urquell in my life, mighty tasty brew. But I still think my favorite is the light Staropramen that is not so hard to find now in the US. Thank you, God! :D

’I’m retiring from international football” is a code which means “I can’t be bothered with the qualifiers and friendlies, but you can always call me up if you qualify for the tournament “

Germany have good experience playing against both USA and Czech Republic.

There's a good chance that USA will travel to Germany for a March friendly, been hearing a lot of rumors about that one.

Who does the Czech Republic have lined up for friendlies so far??

I donīt know about friendlies of Czech team yet. But Iīm going to do research. Iīm interested in this as well. Actually I would like friendly
USA-Czech Republic. I donīt remember that both teams played against each other in the past. I mean Czech republic, not Czechoslovakia now.
I would like Czech-USA. Maybe they both will be in one group in the World Cup.

The only thing that I can find so far is a friendly against Turkey on March 1.
