Apparently Tivo has made a deal with Mac to make any Tivo'd shows playable on the iPod. [Looking for a link]

Always forget about engadget, even though it's a fantastic site.

Yeah, it's a great site. I've got it in my RSS bookmarks.

Can't say that I didn't see something like this coming. Archos' niche just got smaller. For three years a small portion of consumers choose Archos over ipod and other brands because of the extra features like video playback and TV recording. The technology gap is slowly closing and I don't see many other extra-ordinary features they can come up with that can keep attracting those types. When all things become equal even I probably will go for an ipod. With the gutless marketing strategy Archos will be lucky if they are profitable in few years.

Thanks for the link.

Archos is a niche brand and was never going to appeal to the same crowd (I think this was discussed a couple weeks back). It was an inevitable move, and it's actually kind of surprising that Tivo made the leap, not Macintosh. Still, based on technology and performance, the Archos AV500 is still the better machine.

FYI, the TivoToGo won't work on a Mac. Tivo says expect it for the mac sometime in mid 2006.
