What are Torontoans Doing with regards to Building a Fanbase?

i would like to know, now that YOU quite surely will get a team, what is being done in the streets of toronto to organize a loud and unified fan group. What would the name be and what would the grafix look like? wondering if you are thinking of flags, banners, scarves, shirts and so on..

The local Canadian soccer supporters have already held their first meeting in the wake of the initial announcement that MLS is coming to Toronto.

The official announcement must be made and MLSE must choose team name and identity before we can get working on anything long-term. In the meantime I myself will check out what other teams around the league have done.

PS we're Torontonians :) . And yes,we are aware of what other fans in MLS are up to and seen their websites (thanks for the links anyway!) As Captain Canuck reported, there was a meeting on Nov 13 (which I attended) and one of our members has already contacted a supplier for flags, banners and scarves. So we do have a small core group of 'ultras', but I expect that there will be a groundswell of support once the team is officially announced. All my friends are excited and so am I!

Well if they take the name Toronto Blizzard, they will make an immediate connect to thousands of Toronto Blizzard fans across Toronto, Canada and the world.

I myself used to own a Toronto Blizzard jersey years ago, even though I did not live close to Toronto. If they come back out as the Toronto Blizzard, the first thing I will be doing is buying the new jersey. Why ? Because the Toronto Blizzard were a great club for decades, that beat some of the best clubs in the world and were always a force domestically.

They were respected by the media and well covered. They were respected by soccer fans coast-to-coast and football fans from Europe to South America.

So it's obvious that if they want to build a loyal fan base for the new club, the best thing MLSE could do to convert a skeptical audience, is to resurrect the Toronto Blizzard.

I did, lol! The meeting was set up both to watch the MLS Cup and celebrate the naming of Toronto as the next new franchise. There were more than 20 people present, and we all got to know eachother. Most of us only communicated beforehand on the Voyageures messageboard, so this was a chance to meet and mingle.

I've always thought "Torontoans" made more sense, but I believe they're referred to as "Torontonians."

1) Arsenal are in 4th spot, 1 point behind Man U. Suck? Hardly :confused:
2) Toronto Blizzard dont exist at present. I live in the present and support existing teams :D

Having looked at DC United, LA galaxy and Chicago, i have to say these section 8 guys are my favorite. Even the name is cool. Anyone here remember what "Section 8" meant on that old tv favorite, M*A*S*H? :)
