Time to put on your "Letters to the Editor" hats on guys:
Sunday Sound-off: Could Milwaukee support a Major League Soccer team?
By Molly Snyder Edler
Soccer is the world's biggest sport, yet Milwaukee doesn't have a Major League Soccer (MLS) team. The Wave has been wildly successful here, youth soccer is huge, college soccer in the area is kicking too, but no MLS team. Think it will ever happen, and if so, could we support big time outdoor soccer in Milwaukee?
E-mail us at soundoff@staff.onmilwaukee.com and if picked, we'll post your response next Sunday. Only submissions that include your full name and where you live will be considered.

Looks like we're doing pretty well over there but "bump" anyway. Let's pile on and open some eyes.

did it yesterdy.......not my greatest work but after reading the anti-soccer mouth breather brigade that got there first, I was trying not to swear and my creativity went out the window.

This group shouldn't get any more public time, but . . . here are a few selected quotes from Reese, Salma, and Jeff B. (Looks like Jeff B's comments have since been dumped by onmilwaukee.)
"They are marketing the league as if it were the Latin-american soccer league. Which is ridiculous, considering most of the people are of suburban american descent. Again, most of the fans are not coming from inner city barrios. For every person you gain in this bi-lingual regard, you're losing four others."
"Just say no to bi-lingualism and MLS."
Comment: Suburban american descent? Try finding that on the list of ethnicities. Inner city barrios? What assumption is made with this statement? And why would you lose four fans for every bi-lingual one you gain?
"I believe that MLS is trying to hi-jack American soccer culture and give the sport over to the extreme and burgeoning Hispanic cultural fringe movement."
"I disagree with the MLS vision of overindulging this Latin american marketing, typecasting and stereotyping at the expense of everyone else."
"Forest Park is a nice community on the west side of Chicago, run by a cabal of Irish Nazis."
"If there is really going to be bi-lingualism at the Milwaukee soccer games, it should be made available in primarily one other language - German."
"I would also like to ask the former GM of the Fire why he liquidated the team of all its Polish players a few years back."
"I myself am an enthused multi-culturalist and have always been there for all the underprivileged, especially during the holidays, and I will continue to be."
Comment: Yah, sure you are and aren't they lucky.
But here's the piece de resistance:
"I also think Peter Wilt may be racist".
Peter, it appears the construction crew neglected to turn over some rocks at Bridgeview. Look what's crawled out from underneath.

I added a couple of comments there for what they're worth. But man, some of the unfortunate people posting there are so out of touch, full of venom, I feel very sorry for them.

Would these be the same Nazis the Blues Brothers ran off the bridge? :D

Wisconsin Nazis, I hate Wisconsin Nazis...
It really is incredible the level of insanity the soccer haters have reached on this thing. As if by supporting soccer, they're supporting some anti-American
cabal of terrorists.

Before we met, my fiance went to a few soccer meetings.
I didn't realize it at the time, but she was labeled a "known member of the pro-soccer movement" and put on a watch list.
It ended up costing me my job at the state department.

Now the truth can be told. The Watergate scandal was concocted to punish Richard Nixon for having Henry Kissinger as Secretary of State.
Kissinger, a known soccer supporter, attended the '74 World Cup in Germany, had been seen at Cosmos matches, and spoke with a heavy accent (not southern).
And then there was that trip to China...
