Do satellites use the same wiring that cable uses?

My house is wired for cable, I actually wanted to have my cable company install an additional outlet for me for $30. If I decide to switch to satellite, could I use that outlet, or is everything wireless or something? I really don't know much about it. Would it be wise to do the additional outlet if I intend to switch soon, or would it be a waste?

Cable TV can use either RG-6 or the cheaper RG-59 coaxial cables whereas satellite requires RG-6 coaxial cables.

Check your house cable wiring to see whether it is RG-6 or not. If not, you will have to rewire your house with RG-6.
