I really want to see if that life straw actually does the job they claim--think of how it would have helped in some of the disaster relief efforts of the last year. Almost all of that stuff is pretty amazing.

I'm suprised at how cheap it is considering somewhat similiar devices like the SteriPEN and MSR MIOX (those are in the $120+ range).

And FWIW...both Katadyn and MSR donated filters and purifiers to the relief efforts this summer. Don't know how many units they shipped out, but they did donate. In fact I think it was MSR that wanted to donate more purifiers, but one of the organizations they were working with did not want anymore.

That blow up tent concept has been around for a while. I'd be a wee bit hesitant rely on that considering a small puncture in the airsleeves in the middle of the night could be a pain-in-the-ass. Also...I'm guessing a person's pack space will be taken up alot by a damn foot pump. Call me a traditionalist I guess...I much rather prefer two poles rather than air supporting up my tent in a 50mph windstorm.

That magic rope...umm yeah. Rockclimbers are notoriously old school in their ways and definately would not trust some gizmo like that rope. I'm sorry...give me my 10.5mm Bluewater rope over that thing.
