No.
Work your way up to moderator status and you get the avatar, sig, etc, for free.
However, considering an avatar, etc, costs $15/yr, and most mods put in several extra hours a week (if not more) doing mod-type things (keeping the riff-raff in line, merging/moving threads, thinking of good topics, etc, etc), getting a free avatar is worth about $0.05/hr from our viewpoint. :)
