I was just at the Everton website and saw that Wayne has picked up five bookings this season and one of them a red. I get my Premiership action on Comcast and they show one tape-delayed game every wednesday (thoughthey did stop showing them for about two months). I haven't seen Everton yet unfotunately. But I was wondering how he is picking up all these cards. Is it immaturity, unlucky, late tackles, he's a hot head? What is he doing to get booked. Maybe its just me, but that seems like a lot, especially since he doesn't consistently start (right?) So what is he doing?

It's pretty much a blend of precociousness and inexperience. Whenever Rooney comes off the bench, it's to inject some energy and life into the game and he does that, though sometimes a little too well.

Another thing to keep in mind, however, is that the last couple of bookings have come under the watch of Mssrs. Andy D'Urso and David Ellary - two of the lesser lights among the EPL's "professional" referees.

Rooney put a two inch gash in the guys ankle that required 8 stitches, in what was arguably the ugliest hack this year in the EPL. Even Moyes was appalled.

Ellary or not, that was a red before Rooney even had time to get himself up off the ground...and if it was possible, it would have been 2 straight reds.

That's pretty bad. I hope that he learns to funnel his energy to other things. I'm really anxious to see Everton, Rooney and some other English teams play. So far I've only seen Leeds, Arsenal, ManU, Birmingham City, Chelsea, Southampton, Manchester City, Bolton, Liverpool, West Ham, Sunderland, and Aston Villa.
