You can bet money that the "highlights" of the Bahrain-Trinidad match will make "The Jim Rome Show" as well as SportsCenter US.
Let's see:
Bottles and other objects flying out of the stands? Check.
Fights between players? Check.
Players assaulting the ref? Check.
Look for FIFA to impose sanctions on Bahrain.

Sounds like the Fire-Revs game minus the flying objects.
I didn't think it was that bad, sure some bottles were thrown thats wrong but it wasnt that bad. The assaulting player was red carded. Fights between players didnt last that long. Heated game with a lot on the line. Players and FSC hacks didnt understand the rule that a player may not take the ball during goalie transfer ball from hand to foot.

Nick Webster blew it by saying "Bahrain was robbed."
The ref got it right.

FIFA Law 12, Question 19:
19. As a goalkeeper releases the ball to kick it into play, an opponent intercepts it before it touches the ground. Is this permitted?
No. It is an offence to prevent a goalkeeper releasing the ball from his hands. The releasing of the ball from his hands and the kicking of the ball is considered to be a single action.

Henry has done that twice in the past few years, including once to Friedel. I didn't see the TnT game so I don't know what happened there, but the times I've seen Henry do it he didn't receive a yellow card. Which I don't understand: it's either legal (and therefore a goal), or it's illegal and therefore a deliberate rules violation worthy of a caution.

I didnt see it either... but if webster called that as being robbed, it goes to show you what kind of idiots are running this channel. When a goalkeeper releases the ball to kick it.. it is still considered in the "control" of the keeper. I wonder if he got hired because he is English... I am too.. and I think he is absolutely horrible... maybe I can get the job ?

lol
Well the "heat" wasn't that bad as you make it out to be, although I agree the Bahrainians were too agressive on the officials.
But love the joke. Perhaps this should give me incentive to watch SportsCenter tomr morning... even though it'll be negative on soccer, at least they'll show something!

Webster was awful, for more besides that robbery fiasco.
I presumed it was dangerous play. I don't think it's a card, but an IFK is legit.

All of today's action in that game pales in comparison to what happened at the end of the Turkey vs. Switzerland match.
Oh my..

You can't be any worse. Remember though that in order to get the job you have to be English and have absolutely no knowledge of the rules of the game.

I don't know Father Ted, but that guy in your avatar famously did the same thing for Northern Ireland against England. Although back then I believe that it was not illegal, and the ref bizarrely disallowed the goal...

I forget the name, but I think it was the bartender from FOX Football Friday.

Nick Webster and Keith Costigan
They also said that the match officials never allow goals to be scored that way.

I would love for someone to translate those Arabic chants that were being broadcasted over the the PA System. That was really wierd to listen to, the whole game long and then the increased level and hostility following the ref's call.

I still remember the goal scored by that short Scottish guy (Kenny Dalgliesh?) when he came from behind the keeper (who obviously didn't know he was there) and headed the ball off the keeper's hand while he was balancing it on the open palm of one hand. Just headed the unsecured ball off the hand, turned it around and fired it past the shocked keeper into the net.
That's when it was legal, of course. FIFA changed that long ago and so Nick Webster is an idiot.
Here's a vote for a call for open auditions for FSC play by play and "color" commentators.

In the 1971 game between Northern Ireland and England, George Best scored a similar goal (to the one in the Bahrain X T&T game) against Gordon Banks. He flicked the ball sky high away from Banks when Banks was about to kick it. Then he raced towards the goal ahead of Banks and headed it in. It was one of the highlight plays in Best's career.
Of course, the goal was disallowed, for the same reason as the Bahrain/T&T game.

Look at the game on May 15, 1971.
