A while back... I think it was weaponx that posted a photo of Zidane, dressed as the Pope, being quoted as saying in Domenech we don't trust.... If anybody has that great imageshack photo, please let me know.

Concerning your avatar...I don't know if Italy has ballistic missiles but whenever they get them, I think I have a clue regarding who might be their first target... ;)

Might be a Lyonnais actually...he is indeed lyonnais born and bred, and he played for and managed OL for many years.

Although this brings the classic mental imagine of Vieira barreling down the field clearing Dmids left and right with his elbows, headbutting the central defender before delivering a "heavy" ball to Henry......... I really hope to god I never see this. :(

I think we 've been talking about replacing zidane for too long. At his best, Zidane was (and still can be sometimes) one if not the best football player I have ever seen, and I would say the same about Pele, Maradona, Platini (just to mention what I consider the best players ever). Have they been replaced since their retirement? Of course not. Every football player has his own skills. Pele was an incredible striker, Maradona had exceptional dribbling skills and Platini was able to pass the ball to a mosquito surrounded by three elephants. Zidane can stick the ball to one of his feet and pass the ball to one of his team mates (even if he is in the middle of three elephants!!).I don't know how, he seems to hypnotize them with his famous "roulette"
I don't see anyone showing the same ability, and no one has it actually.
But considering a good player that could play as a substitute, I would vote for Ribery. Last night against Lyon, he was just impressing and amazingly excellent. Good defending, excellent passing, running back and forth to get back the ball from Lyon's players and give it away with excellent vision of he game. He is not as gifted as Zidane and cannot be compared to him but he has excellent skills on his own and I can't see any other French player displaying so much courage and will. By the way, he could be actually a perfect partner for zidane as he can play on both wings.
