no prob. i'll get them in the mail tomorrow. you're getting:
Matt Nathanson, Live from IWU, 9.27.03. He's like John Mayer (in the singer/songwriter vein, not the blues guitar vein, but he's not a douche bag, and he's funny)
Guster's 4 studio albums. I have their offical live release somewhere, but can't find it :(
Damien Rice "O" (seriously, play it for the ladies) and his "Woman Like a Man EP"
awesome dude. that is mighty cool of you to hook it up!

You guys listening to Darth Anastasio? There was a nice acoustic set there, but now it's back to the new (aka:ghey) stuff.

I've been listening to it.
I believe we will hear of Phish's reunion within one year.

I'm considering trying snowboarding for the first time this winter; my pham is having it's channukah week together at snoeshoe in WV. I've never been skiing anywhere other than the east coast (i know, what am I waiting for) but snoeshoe isn't bad. It'll be phun with the pham...
I don't know if it's anything like the skiing in NC, but in NC they make their own snow almost all the time. So bring some goggles b/c while I detest wearing them, it's the only way to do it in the snow.
I've heard a lot of ads for Snowshoe. They had weekly trips up there from Raleigh. Shoud be great. If I remember correctly, they have the most variety and #of runs for that area. I had always skiied in Colorado. So when I first went skiing in NC, I was like...well, so that's this run...where's the rest of the map?! LOL It's always fun, though, no matter where you go.
And don't forget the snow tubing! Awesome! :)

The goggles are for your eyes. The alcohol's what you take to keep you warm! (or at least think you are) :)

Snowboarding can be easier for many people to pick up compared to skiing. I lived in Denver for 6 years and skied all the time, so I prefer it, but I got the hang of snowboarding in about a day and enjoyed it a lot.

I think Sean would rather snowboard so I'll try the bunny slopes with the skis and let him flop around with the snowboarding.....he did pick up surfing fairly easily so I imagine that snowboarding would be the same......:D

I've been to snoeshoe - my senior year of HS we did a ski trip there (the funniest thing happened before we left Va Beach - the chaparone was like "...and don't be smoking any of 'the weed' [w/finger quotes in a serious manner]" lol! )
Snoeshoe does have quite a the plethora of good runs - Cup Run is the signature diamond trail.
In the mornings (especially when alot of real snow has fallen) is when Snoeshoe kicks ass. The afternoons, well, that's another story: Ice.

The big differnce btw snowboarding and surfing/skating is that the pivot and turning feet are reversed. In surfing/skating your weight is more on the back foot and you turn by moving the front foot. In snowboarding it is the opposite, the weight is on the front foot and you steer with the back foot. Takes a little getting used to but not too bad.

My step brother went to Montana and took a course type of thing to learn snowboarding. (The whole lot of us kids grew up with the BMX/skater-dude thing...we used to have an 8 ft half-pipe in the back yard :)) He actually liked it so much that he went to college out in Boulder and would go almost every weekend.
I'm so uncoordinated though, I don't think I would ever get it.
My favorite part of skiing is the jumps. Nothing dramatic...just the little trails that veer off into the woods a bit with lots of bumps and jumps. We saw those all the time skiing in Colorado, but I didn't see anything like that in NC.
I seriously think that taking a class (even just 1/2 day) is the key to enjoying yourself if it's your first time. You're among folks that are in the same boat as you are so rather than feeling stupid in front of the "experts" you just laugh with each other. If you can't manage some basic runs without major havoc, then you're not going to get much out of the trip.
So take my advice...and stay in school! (ski school that is)
Billy can tell you of the peril that results when you drop out of ski school and think you can figure it out on your own. ;)
