Dan, enjoy the games. You know those ones against the Cubbies will have some bitter chants and jeers going on!
"Welcome back to Chicago where the World Champion White Sox are up to bat. Hey, did we mention you can buy World Champion memorabilia at the concession stands? Those World Champion t-shirts look great in front of those World Champion banners.

So, did I mention the Sox won the World Series?..."

:D

What a surprise? Another call from the contractor!!

I think I'll take my lunch break now and see how he's doing. Back in 60, folks.

BTW, Red: Cute kid!

Red, see if your arena has the jousting pad. My wife went to a similar place in McDonough (Pump It Up!) and they had this raised pad where the adults where allowed to go up and fight with those giant foam Q-tips. Straight out of American Gladiators! The folks loved it, though I'm sure the kids received no supervision at the time.
Oh yea-adults beating the crap out of each other Gladiator style-woohoo! Damn I might need to smuggle in some margaritas on the rocks or something...... :p

All we need are some SUMO suits and it's a party! :)

So we're in baby name mode as one of my best friends is having a baby in a week or so. So we sort of have this "worst baby names" contest going. I saw this comment on one of the websites. :D

I've suggested to my sister that she name her little girl to be - Manchester. She's not sure about it but she's considering. What do you think?

Clever. Like being named Pittsburg or Schenectady. Kid'll grow up to be beaten to death by Liverpool fans.

National Lampoon did some spoof magazine years ago, and included in it was a "survey" listing the least popular names for boys. It had your usual list of odd but real names, then reached #1... Drothar the Omniscient!

The worst baby name I've heard works a lot better when said, because they pronounced it "pee-ju-muss", but it was spelled pajamas.

That, and a friend of mine who's a nurse swears there was a baby at the maternity ward named "shithead."

I think I've mentioned this before, but should I have kids, I'd like them to be named the following:

Son #1: Michael Thierry
Daughter #1: Elizabeth Bennett
Son#2: Paul Dennis
Daughter #2: Hermione Catherine

LMAO I had forgotten about that! Hilarious!

Here was another funny one. I don't think people this hormonal should be allowed to determine some innocent child's future legacy. :)

For the last 50 years, my family has been naming their children after Southwestern Ontario cities. My brother is Barrie, my sister is Kingston, and my cousin is Markham. I am due in two weeks (it'll be a girl) and I thinking about naming her either York or Orillia. What do others think?
I think it's time for a nuclear strike against Ottawa.

(Reader Tom wrote in to suggest that she branch out to include other provinces and name her after this town (http://www.k12.nf.ca/woodlandelem/our_school/dildo.html) , the single greatest town in Newfoundland, or perhaps anywhere else. (Warning - link may not be work-safe if you work for your local parish.)

Are you going to include a pronunciation guide when you register little Thierry for school, or have you decide to just embrace the idea of a child called "theory"? ;)

We had a girl in our school who's parents tried to be cute and name her Natalie but use the french spelling with the "h" (Nathalie). The horrible conclusion was that Arkansans didn't recognize the whole silent "h" concept and she went through the rest of her life with a big "th" sound in the middle of her name. :) It basically sounded like someone was spitting something out in the middle of her name.

By the way MIke it is to bad I am not going to be in Delaware any time soon. I think that I might have found the one person (besides my best friend Meghan) that woudl go see Pride and Prejudice with me! :D

I love that you want to name your daughter after a very cool (and hip for her time) literary figure! :D

That's not one of those factory towns named after the local industry, is it?!!! If it is, it might explain all the smiles...

As Ashley said, it all depends on where you think the kids gonna grow up.

"Your name, please?"
"Hermione Catherine..."
"Hermi...?"
"Hermione"
"H...E...R...M..."
"Yes, I, O, N, E. Hermione."
"Hermi-oyne... Kathleeeeeen..."
"You know, just call me Cat."

"All right then. Kitty it is!"
*sigh*

Have nice trips, guys.

Read the impossibly short article on Soccernet the other day wherein Barcelona FC announced they intended to manage a team in MLS someday as part of their global marketing strategy. This set my mind wandering...

- It would need to be a rival for Real Salt Lake;
- Preferably in a western market without to much competition from other major sports;
- Something with a cultural tie to the predominantly Mormon city, though also exuding a sense of rebeliousness to mirror their Catalan connection;
- And it'd be nice to capture the brand name within the team name if possible.

The answer is obvious! Ladies and gentlement and especially MLS fans, get ready to embrace BOISELONA!
