Did his editors finally catch on? Did he finally develop a sense of shame? Is he in a bunker with GhostofBill in a land where Bruce Arena isn't King?
Anyone know why we haven't been graced with his amazing insight and wisdom lately?

Let me guess...
You saw the thread on G Jones's latest swill and thought to yourself, "Speaking of useless hacks..."

I believe he is writing for one of the wire services, perhaps AP, on soccer. You might be able to find recent articles he wrote by doing a search on "Jamie Trecker", with his name in quotation marks. The last article I saw by him was shortly after the World Cup.

Jamie is still the lead soccer writer for Sports Ticker. Anytime you see a soccer aritcle with Ticker as the source, it's likely written by Jamie.

He was pretty complimentary to the US AFTER WC02.
The last article I saw was an article posted on that soccertv site where he said that WUSA was in survival mode. He always was one for emphatically stating that the cup is half empty.

And as far as he's concerned, the other half seems to be full of some disgusting green bile.
Personally, I can't stand the guy. He's the kind of soccer writer we don't need. Give me Steve Goff, Grant Wahl, Trecker the Elder, Andy Mead, Dan Loney, and Evan Whitney any day over Jamie Trecker and Graham Jones.

If you do a Google search under his name, you can usually find some of his stuff. I found it posted on some Canadien Web sites. http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/sow_soccerclm.html is the most recent one.
He is the main soccer writer (maybe the only) for Sports Ticker, which is owned by ESPN. george is right - if it says Ticker, it's probably him. I don't like him, but think the more the merrier, even if they do have a slant.

My signature sums up my opinion of Trecker.
I believe he actually had a piece in the NY Times a few months ago.
Someone should dredge up the abysmal WC preview piece he wrote about the nats, in which he said that getting one point would be a substantial accomplishment; that Regis (!!) was our best defender and that it would be a miracle if Pope played; that the less said about Eddie Lewis, the better, etc., etc.
Classic Trecker. How a so-called soccer expert could be so freaking wrong is hard to comprehend. How he continues to earn a living as a soccer expert is even harder to comprehend.

Do a Google search?!?! Dear God, no. Why would you ever search for that kind of swill?
I was hoping to find out he'd been fired. Or tarred and feathered and sent to Baghdad. Or Pluto.

He is a transplanted Scot, that would explain his apathy for American Soccer.

that would explain his apathy towards successful soccer teams/nations and affinity for crappy ones

Actually, his father, Jerry, is actually a pretty decent reporter, but pretty much retired now, IIRC.
Son, OTOH, sometimes tries mightily to give the impression he never took Journalism 101.

I think the word you meant to use was antipathy.
He's a putz.

You're right, grammar and vocabulary wasn't what got me into college.

No worries, James. None of the friends of mine who went to JMU were those whom I'd consider wordsmiths. ;)
Oh, and the putz was Trecker, not you.:)
