LONDON, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Manchester United are investigating a bugging incident at Old Trafford after audio tapes were offered to The Sun newspaper, the club's website said on Saturday.
The tapes were apparently recorded in the home dressing room last Sunday, the day United beat champions Chelsea 1-0.
The contents reportedly include pre-match and halftime team-talks, plus celebratory comments following the victory, the website said.

Now, granted it is the Sun, but we seem to be taking this very seriously. Will definitely be interesting to see how this pands out...

So Jose listened to all of our team-talks and still couldn't win? Talk about being an over-rated manager.

Um....I didn't get the impression from that article (if true, it is in the Sun afterall), that Mourinho or anyone from Chelsea were on the other end of the line.
Could you tell me why you did?

"We can take anyone on in a physical battle and we'll win, and then we'll get the ball down and play football, and we'll win that as well." ~ John TerryYou forgot the ending to that quote: "and then we catch sight of Darren Fletcher & co, and know there is nothing we can do".

The quote is fine there me lad.
I could change it to 'we can't defend goals that go in from a miss hit knock back across the box' - but i won't ;)
Anyway.....
Did you get the impression that Chelsea had anything to do with that tape...for the life of me I can't see where teso is coming from?

It is a very strange coincidence that this would happen against Chelsea, who have risen suspicions over other incidents (Ashley Cole, Rio, Obi Mikel, Arnesen, Roman's funds, etc) so I would not totally rule you lot out yet. On the other hand, I am not taking for granted that Chelsea were in on this until more information comes out.

Really?
Then, how about this, from that very article..
He said the gang had already set in motion plans to bug Mourinho and the Chelsea team during their next Premiership match.
It would seem to me, that Chels had nothing at all to do with this, just happening to be the team that was visiting that day.
Of course, what the Sun has added to it as spin, is anyones guess, they are, afterall, the Sun.

Exactly. I would have completely dismissed this story had Man United and other, more reputable sources than the Sun (e.g. the crazy drunks down near Christcurch) not verified it, so whatever else the Sun adds on is being taken as fabrication until it is also verified, by me anyway. Again, I am not saying I think Chelsea did this, but until some reputable sources rule it out altogether, I am not doing so either.

On a practical level though......what could possibly be said during halftime in the locker room that the other side would want to hear right away?
"Okay, guys we're going to run the ole' statue of liberty play at about the 60th minute..."
I'd be much more concerned if the bugs were in the boardroom or the financial offices.

Knowing the tactical changes and specific player instructions of an opponent would be a massive help.

That would be a *much* more serious degree of crime.. Whereas bugging the dressing room would involve mostly the FA, bugging the offices would mean messing with the police, the law, and getting yourself screwed all over.
