Roy Keane and Gary Neville will play in the friendly game against Burton Albion, and are expected to be fit for the Charlton game.

Ruud will miss Holland's international friendly due to bruised ribs, and could be a doubt for the game.

If Ruud misses out, and Keane and Neville regain fitness, I think Fergie will field the following team:

Van der Sar
Neville Brown Rio Silvestre
Keane Smith
Fletcher Scholes Ronaldo
Rooney
SUBS: Howard, Park, O'Shea, Richardson, Rossi

If it were up to me, I would start Park instead of Fletcher, and Rossi instead of Scholes. A Keane/Smith pairing would be good, because I would feel more confident about playing a 4-4-1-1 against Charlton's five-man midfield.

Great to hear Keane is back. We all knew Gary was on the brink of returning (a shame since Bardsley has done so well, but good news as Gary is a rock, Wes can now cover 2 spots from the bench, and O'Shea will be moved further from the pitch), but Roy too? Great news. Now all we need is Gabby, Giggs, Saha and Solskjaer, and we'll almost have a fully fit squad. :D

Did you have to start this thread today? Jeez - there ought to be a "Wait til the week of the game" rule here or something. Starting a thread this early guarantees an early derailing...

I can't help it if I can't give an orangutan's arse about international friendlies!! :(

Maybe I should've started a match thread for the game against Burton Albion instead.

I'm already excited for this one!!!!! :D

Rooney is in brilliant form right now, and I see him putting a brace in against Charlton. RVN adds another one, but Charlton scores late to break up our party. Final score Man U 3- Charlton 1.

Hey Zinner, I saw you at the bookstore the other day. I'm hoping that our recent form hasn't taken more years away. Sheesh. ;)

I only hope that United get up for this game because Charlton is ahead on points and I remember what Norwich did last year in a 2-nil defeat of United. A dead last team playing with heart can do miraculous things, look at wee Wigan, no big names there, yet they are only six points behind Chelsea and holding down a strong second. This is what Keane has to instil in the United team, Heart.

back on topic, with Keane and Neville back, we can win this, unfortunately I think we'll concede so we will have to make the best out of our attacking, I predict we take it 3-2.

by the way, I had another United dream, All I can remember is Rooney scoring a bomb from the midfield a la Seedorf in his Madrid days.

I can't see both Keano and Gary getting starts even if they are both fit. Gary has been out for 3 months and unless he can get a reserve team game under his belt I think he'll be on the bench. With Keane I'm more hesitant, he hasn't been out as long. So maybe..

Very true, we are still very few from being clear of injuries, and we don't want to go throwing both Keane & Neville back into the thick of it, and risking their getting injured again. I think it might be a good idea to give Fletcher/Smith a vote of confidence by throwing them both out there as the CM tandem at the start of the game, possibly brining on Keane if we need to. The same also goes for giving Bardsley or Brown a game at RB, then bringing on Gary for the last 10-20 minutes if we can affo....
