yeah... having 2 guys w/ no bowling ability open the bowling is a sure fire way to lose any match... especially if one of them bowls the closing overs as well.

i told him that i'm most likely not GFI on this one and I did tell him to screw with his orders, like putting destructive players on very attacking so they are just way too attacking and don't play well. once he replies i'll suggest having his batsmen bowl and his bowlers bat higher in the lineup! He's got a national team player that he has to play, at least he says he does, so i'm hoping he just messes with that guys orders, like put him on very defensive so he doesn't score any runs.
Just have him listed as number 11. :D

i can't even play good when the other team plays to lose.
End of Over 17: 46-2, runrate=2.71
Fleck 4-1-8-1
Gardner* 22 (44 balls)
Edwards 0 (1 balls)
the bowler who just took the wicket has an econ rate close to 6 and i'm only scoring 2 runs an over. this is going great.

Well my undefeated season is over.
I hit a poor 245-7 and he got the runs with two overs to spare but only 3 wickets left.
I thought I had him with 10 overs left he still needed 70 and his wickets were falling. But his tail wagged enough and one of his openers remained not out, got a century and the win for him.
I did play GFI as did he. I am stillin first and ahead comfortably on runrate. However, any chance of auto promoting is a distant memory now.
Qualifier for me. So time to TIE some games to boost my lagging team spirit.

tough loss...
I'm firmly on top in my TIE though...
check out the figures of two of my bowlers...
Coutts 6-1-7-1
Calcutt 6-2-12-5
that's right... its the killer C's... one bowls 6 overs for 7 runs... LOL all the other did was take 5 wickets.
I got set a very makeable 119...
off to a good start thus far..
End of Over 2: 17-0, runrate=8.50, reqrunrate=2.15 (119-10)

End of Over 48: 217-10, runrate=4.52
Villiers 9-1-30-3
Shackell* 7 (15 balls)
not bad considering my run rate at one point was about 2.5 an over. My team decides to play defensivly sometimes, like all my players. My allrounder hit 73, now let's see if he can get some wickets.

Seargeant is back to his old self... aparently he holds club before country... sucking for that NT but he's just got done smashing 127... I believe that's after knocking 250 the week before... if that's the case, the 377runs in 2 innings is a record that will stand forever...

wow. he's good. he's an opener for club right? is he also an opener for country or is he somewhere else in the lineup? he might not be used to being in a different spot!
End of Over 6: 24-2, runrate=4.00, reqrunrate=4.41 (217-10)
Owen 3-0-13-1
Miller* 1 (1 balls)
Connell 6 (13 balls)
kick ass. I got two early wickets, including Palmer who is on the national squad or at least is a prospect.

finally got a win!!! i really shouldn't be happy because the other team threw the match, but a win is a win!
And that's the end of the match. Wicketkeepers won by 132 runs.
Wicketkeepers 217-10
Southlands AC 85-10

I plan to continue using him to open, as he always seem to post a solid total on a good strike rate from that position.

odd that he is out of form for the country. is the bowling in the internationals that much better?

Basically, if another NT-level batsman takes a run at a couple of bots, or if three teams conspire to try to break it, the record (if it is a record for two innings) could fall. Note that the 250* has been bettered in a friendly, one where both teams were using silly bowling lineups.

For club, he's lucky (or unlucky, depending on your viewpoint) to see one strong+ bowler in a match. For country, I'd guess most of them are to that level. I think that makes a big difference -- it seems to me, based on my match experience, that a big factor in bowlers taking wickets is comparison with batting skill of the opposing batsman.

makes sense. I'm happy my all-arounder could put in a good performance. 73 runs with the bat and a line of 5-1-10-2 bowling.

Congrats on your win. It doesn't matter how they come, it's 4 points in the bag. No-one can take that away from you :D
