I have read, sadly, on other boards that the CCC is not important to the Mexican, Costa Rican and the MLS teams. I was wondering what the fans of the small Carribean teams thought about it.

It doesn't appear here in MLS that it is that important. The scores aren't in the papers, aren't mentioned during MLS broadcasts, only on FOX soccer channel. The people don't show up to the games. The Crew-Morelia game in '03 drew about 4,500, half of which were Morelia supporters, during March, a cold weather month here in central Ohio.

This tourney could become much more important if the World Club Tournament becomes a regular deal. The Mexican teams and MLS teams would then push it a lot harder as it would have a genuine payoff for them with the Concacaf tournament feeding the world one. The opportunity to play a Liverpool or a Real Madrid in an actual cup match and not a friendly would be important to both leagues.

another thing that would make the cup important would be too expand the cup. i dream of one day having a 32 team ccc.

^yeah, that would be awesome
the cup, contrary to what people on here say, is important. at least last years addition was.
all of the coaches said that wanted to win the cup, and their lineups backed that up. i know hugo wanted to, but he couldnt get UNAM to perform. and herrera also wanted to, but he was unlucky with injuries that season. mls teams of course take this cup seriously, they need the exposure.
next years should be great.

yep. every single team tried their best to win the cup last year. America said that they would try their best to win this one coming up.

I don't think there ever will be 32 teams, but maybe 24 teams and have 6 groups. But think about it, how big is the difference between the top team in the region and the 32nd best team in the region. I believe it's a big difference that maybe very few of us want to see in the first round. But 16 teams would seem like a great tournament.

i would like to see the top team vs the 32nd team. you see it in libertadores all the time. teams outclassing other teams chivas beat cienciano 8-2 agg.

MLS Commish DOn Garber reveiled during this years MLS Cup in Dallas, Texas that MLS and the Mexican Football League have been in talks together along with Univision about forming a North American Champions League.
Basicly CONCACAF isn't going to do anything on their own so the MLS and MFL are trying to work out something. Basicly Univision is very interested in having Wednesday night games live. Its good, becasue with TV power behind the move there will be more $$ invloved.
He hinted that it would also involve other federation leagues much like the current CCC.
BAsicly is great news for clubs in this region because this compotition will fiannly have $$$ thanks to Univision to make it something special. IMO its mostly driven by the recent US-Mexico rivialry.

i would only like this competition if it 1) was to replace the CCC (ie they make it a confederational competition, not an mls one), and 2) if they distribute teams evenly and not have 8 mfl teams, 8 mls teams and like 2 central american teams. that would be pointless.
im glad someone is trying to achieve something better than there is now, though. i think we're the only confederation that dosent have a champions league, no?

Well the impression i got is that the majority of the teams will be from MLS and MFL. Hypthotheticly..4 MLS 4 MFL then 8 from the other regions in central america and the Caribbean. At least thats how isee it. So yeah it will be mostly those two leagues represented..and to be fair thats where the money and the reletive stregth lies as well..certianly a motivating factor for Univision.
Of course these negotiations are in their infancy, the timeline Garber mentioned was like within 5 years.

The North American Champions League sounds like the best idea out there yet. And the current plan, 4 MLS and 4 MFL teams, with the other 8 rounded out by the Central American, probably 6 teams? and the CFU, 2 teams?, sounds pretty good. It wouldn't bog down the competition.
