And if I ever catch someone saying something bad about Dido on here, things will get REALLY nasty. You've been warned...

This has to be the most random comment ever ;).

You started it! ;)
But everyone who attacks Sarah Connor shall fear my wrath
Can you make that your signature?
I had a thought. With DSDS starting up again (is anyone else shocked that it's lasted three seasons?), why not have the winner do the WC song?

Unfortunately not :(. Maybe we can convince 96squig to put this in his sig - I always wanted to end up in someone's signature anyway :D.

In a world where Big Brother can seemingly run forever, no I am not shocked at all. But won't the next DSDS winner's career already be over in six months?

Consider it done.
Btw, I just was at a very good concert: in Hamburg (the reeperbahn at night rocks, I shall make further investigations there ;-) ) in the Große Freiheit: Randy, Flogging Molly and Millencollin. Was great. Even though they are not German, a world cup hymn by Flogging Molly would be like the best piece of Music ever ;-)

Awesome! I think I need to start repping random people so that I can rep you for this.
Getting rid of the smiley would probably increase the awesomness, if you ask me :D.
(the reeperbahn at night rocks, I shall make further investigations there ;-) )
I used to see some shows in a club called Docks there. Stay on the main streets though, the sourrounding area isn't exactly a place were I would want to spend the night.

LOL no problem

Disagree, Große Freiheit is propably the best street on the world. ;-)

Perfect now ;).

I am more thinking of those small streets that look like you could get beaten up any moment. There were some though looking guys last time I was there, 3 or 4 years ago.

Worldcup 2006 artdirector Andre Heller engaged Brian Eno as musical director for the whole tournament and Peter Gabriel as music director and conductor of the preopening event in Berlin. So the song will maybe come from this direction?
Very good in my opinion. I Love them all and take in consideration, which contacts to people like Bowie, Ferry, Bono Brian Eno can deliver.
So my tip is U2 will do the official song.

I would like to see Sportfreunde Stiller get it - they are big soccer fans (Bayern and 1860), have written songs about soccer before, are a real band who write real songs and are German.
I've heard a few songs by them, they're pretty good.

«Brüh im Lichte dieses Glückes»
She´s unique,
can´t remember any singer before,
who sang the German national anthem wrong
at an international match of Germany.

I think Motörhead must sing.
Then hang up the Austrian/French Gays.
And after that the Reichsmusikorchestra play "Alte Kameraden".
And the Caspar sings the hynms later.
And then the Hools sings "Haut drauf Kameraden",
and then we buy all cards for 15 Euros.

The organizers have made good choices. Eno and Gabriel are both great.

This is heading slightly off topic, but seems to be where we're heading anyway.
So FIFA have brought in Peter Gabriel and Brian Eno to do the Opening Gala. That begs the question: What do we need an Opening Gala for?
A 90 minute show two days before any games are played. If I'm a soccer fan I'd rather see a game. If I'm not a soccer fan I wouldn't be interested anyway. They've never done it before and it's clear they're trying to replicate the Olympic Openning Ceremony, but why?
Tickets start at 100 Euro and go up to 750 Euro. That's a lot of coin for a 90 minute show. Unsurprisingly my morning newspaper today asked a few ticket outlets how well it was selling. One guy said 'Der grosse Renner ist das nicht'. Quite.
FIFA is going to get burned on this, and I can see them trying to give the tickets away a week before the show to save themselves the embarrasment of a half empty stadium.

Yeah, I don't know what we need that gala for. The prices are just a slap in the face. But other than that they seem to have a fairly good choice in Music.
How about having Peter Gabriel make the world cup hymn? he likes Germany and speaks fluent (even though heavy accented) German.

The song will be named:
Don´t give up, Biko. But Germany got the sledgehammer.

A gala kinda fits the pseudo-artsy nature of the entire World Cup campaign. And they seem to like to slap the fans anyway...

Sometimes I'm glad that I don't know what the ******** you're talking about.

Somebody posted this link on the Hattrick (http://www.hattrick.org) forum:
http://aol.de/index.jsp?cid=2108567828&sg=Musik_special_Fussballsongs
It says the official song is "Love Generation" by Bob Sinclar feat. Gary Pine. I don't believe this to be true though...
Somebody on that forum also suggested Gentleman should sing the official song. I think that wouldn't be such a bad idea actually...

I feel like an a$$ quoting myself, but FIFA have finally listened to my wisdom and pulled the plug on this thing:
