A place for people to discuss the game before, during, and after.

Enjoy.

Luxembourg squad hasn't been officially announced yet. Apparently the coach always waits until the last minute to make it public.

Strasser is staying with his club and won't be playing. They have called up a young player from the Belgian 2nd division, but that is all I know.

Couldn't edit my message to add this info as it has been longer then 120 minutes.

Anyway, roster was announced today. Mostly Luxembourg based players, including an U17 player (Gilles Bettmer).

hi i'm from luxembourg and i live 100m from the "stadium" where they play today.

i think they are a lil bit stupid , the coach choose one from the U17 but in the U21 and even in the U19 there young players who have layed in teh first divison in luxembourg but this guy plays in germany in a U17team in teh second divison, thats not acceptable but here in luxembourg the footbal is honestly not the best but against canada we have a lil chance to score a goal but not with 16 year old children.

i wish u a good game and luck for tonight

oh yes i would like to say that we have no forwards hehe

thats true , we have 4 players who plays in the front but they aren't forwards and then tehy take players for the midfield with 16 years and we have to much midfielders and a very good 17year old guy who is a real forward and who scores goals but they dont take him with

i cant understand this!

u see thats luxembourg hehe

Not a performance worth raving about, but I'll take the win. I don't know if it was the conditions or just the oppposition we were facing but that was a very static Canadian performance - I can't recall a previous match where there was such a lack of movement by our players off the ball. Its like we had our foot off the gas pedal the whole game, except maybe when we started playing more of the kids. Which is perhaps understandable for players like Brennan, Hume & Imhof who are normally going to be in consideration for spots and are in the middle of long seasons, but I struggle to think of an excuse for a player like Sulentic who is trying to make the team and turns in an un-impressive performance like that. I wasn't surprised when he was abruptly subbed off after getting a yellow.

I think Craig Forrest said it best perhaps in that Canada lowered their standards against Luxembourg after having raised them to a game we are capable of playing last time out against Spain. Though it also has to be said that this Canadian line up wasn't nearly as good as the one we played against Spain. As for Luxembourg, while they were very organized defensively I don't think we were ever in danger of giving up a good scoring chance to them, let alone a goal.

Incidentally, the game report at www.canadasoccer.com mentions that Austria will be Canada's next opponent, on March 1st, in Austria.

march 1st? thats a long way to go...but i hope canada will get some friendlies w/ world cup qualified teams too..especially w/ it coming soon, they can practice for the next year of qualifying.

newayz..i thought the game was ruined due to the freezing cold temperatures...it looked freezing out there...and the players couldn't adapt well.....i personally wouldn't want to play in those conditions. so, w/ that in mind, i thought it was a fair result. not good, but not bad.

I don't know, I prefer playing in the cold rather than scorching temperatures. It was good to see them get a result as they've been a litttle unlucky this year. I hope we can build this team into a qualifier real soon :)
