Is there a link to a news report for this? I know its coming, but a recent CP article posted elsewhere on the board indicated that the MLS is not expected to officially announce it this weekend, even though three members of the MLSE will be attending the weekend in Texas.

I hope you fellas are right about Nov. 12th. I'm excited as hell. Now it's time that we prove that we really deserve this team otherwise we might as well all go start watching water polo ... with no offence to water polo intended. Those folks are insane!

Not sure that's the case. Yesterday's CP reports suggested there would be no announcement this weekend.

. . . Larry Tanenbaum, Richard Peddie and Bob Hunter will represent Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd. at this weekend's MLS Cup in Frisco, Texas. But the league does not expect to make a final announcement during the championship on Toronto's expansion bid.

Hmmmm, it was in the globe and mail when the stadium was finallyapproved that the 'go day' for the Toronto expansion teams official welcome was to be November 12th in Dallas.
Maybe some kill-joy like a Doyle G type calls in a bomb threat to halt the good news but thats what the globe was running with.

............maybe they could join the same league Buffalo is in.........oh ya.
I must admit a lot of Revs fans feel that this is a US league, with US money and US start up hard knocks that should stay a US league. I think Toronto will be a great addition.

The inference Buffalochick was not what country Buffalo was in but what league the Buffalo soccer team played in...............as in the NOTHING.
If someone in Buffalo had enough money to start an expansion team and fund a new SSS then MLS would be beating the door down to the city. As it is go to Ft. Erie and follow signs to Toronto.............cos thats where the MLS is heading.

You are right on that part from everything I've read. The announcement doesn't appear to be this weekend, however. I suspect partly because they want it in Toronto with key Canadian politicians present and also because they don't want to take attention away from the championship game.

Yup....that's what I mentioned before too. Garber is gonna wanna make sure that key politicos in Toronto who helped him and MLSE out get good photo ops and that he stays on good terms with them. An announcement in Toronto next week after MLS Cup would not only be perfect for that, but also be perfect for the Toronto area supporters to show the media that demand for MLS in Toronto is pretty big.

YA what league is it that Buffalo plays in? Like the poster earlier stated, the Nothing League. Follow the signs from FT.Erie, MLS is only 100 miles away.

I haven't read the [deep echo voice]State of the League[/deep echo voice], but at least according to the MLSnet:
The league's Board of Governors will meet Saturday to discuss a host of issues. If all goes according to plan, Toronto will be confirmed as the league's 13th team by the end of the meeting, and all teams could find themselves with more flexibility to sign marquee players and financial incentives to take part in youth development.
So....they may have an informal announcement with bigger fan fare in Toronto.

I suspect it will be a case of no news is good news until they call a Toronto press conference early next week.

This is going off on a tangent a bit but part of the reason for that is Rochester hold territorial rights and won't let them into the USL, isn't it? Same would probably apply if Rochester ever lands an MLS franchise, which could happen if they are able to get their second phase stadium funding.

They could always join the CPSL.
