coupet is a very solid keeper but is seems like ha lacks that class and flamboyance of barthez. he wouldn't even b in the lineup if it wasnt for barthez's spitting incident and whats this i hear about domenech not declaring whos the starting # 1 b/c he consulted w/ the stars???? it also seems like domenech and bruno martini are really giving couper a cahnce after naming him for the germany game. no disrespect to costa rica but i think if coupet even concedes 2 goals saturday he will still be #1 in the WC unless he makes a horrible mistake

The only way that a back 3 may work is if Viera and Maka play really defensive. And there is no way that Trez can sit the bench, have you seen his recent form for Juve???
Why isnt Giuly called up???? He is simply amazing. This might be the only thing I disagree with Domenech on, other than the selection of Malouda.
the back 3 formation has the potential to work very well - milan comes to mind in the recent game against juve. maka plays defensively anyways, so it shouldn't be a problem, and i'm willing to let vieira lie deeper in the midfield - he can always push up to maintain offensive pressure.
However, since Zidane isn't available, the tactics employed should be much different. Lefutur's squad looks solid, although i'd put vieira in center and push dhorasoo out to the right even though its not his best position. Of course, giuly should be there in any case
anyways, giuly isn't called up because domenech is ********tard. That he is still in charge does not bode well for the team come summertime. On the other hand, Malouda's callups are justified - he is an excellent excellent player.

i cant belive a person like domenech is soooo uneducated in something he believes in so much it has been proven that astrology has no effect on humans so how can he not pick ppl like pires and silvestre because of the dates they were born. he should be sacked and Deschamps should be brought in everyone in france hates him!!!http://www.thepalmbeachtimes.com/Pages/FutureAstrology.html

Oh wow, Abidal is out for SEVERAL.... MONTHS, L'Equipe is saying at best Feb 2006 he'll be back.
Vieira (from L'Equipe as well) is saying he has played the last 3 Juve matches not at 100% fit and his back has gotten stiff, they're going to see, but he may not play v Germany. Rest is the only thing that will help.

What does any of this has to do with Saturday's game?
Domenech isn't leaving before Saturday, Pires won't
be called up before Saturday, etc. There's another
thread which is more of "general discussion" about the
French team: take these matters there.

Saw that. Yikes. Seems it's linked/ same injury he
suffered this summer. Maybe he came back too early
from it, and that means playing for Lyon as well,I don't
know.

Saw that too. Between this now and Trezeguet not going
to Martinique, I'm starting to think these two are
suffering from "Juventu-itis" ;) I wonder if either we'll
play on Saturday and I'm also starting to wonder about
Thuram ( Juventu-itis *may* be contagious)

The German federation apparently sent two agents to "escort" the NT due to the recent violence in France...no comment.
Probably some kind of reconnaissance instead :D

Named...Günter..something, can't confirm.
Today's November 11, right? I have a strange feeling
about this...
Anybody keeping an eye on Alsace and Lorraine?
:D

This might be a good option since Vieira is definately nursing a groin injury.

Good Trez interview (http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/20051111_191935_01.html)
in today's L'Equipe, titled "Ce sera délicat" (as in "It'll be
tough"):
In brief, he's ready to play. His injury, sciatic nerve "pain" is what prevents
him from travelling ( why he didn't go to Martinique). Talks about good relations/
communication between Domenech and Capello. Would want a win against Germany because
of a long break for the French team afterwards, and also because..it's Germany:"tough
team, ambitious as we are and last game against them was a perfect game for us (3-0)".
Happy about Anelka's return and competition amongst strikers in the team, "need to
play together more with Anelka and Cisse, Henry being the one I'm more familiar with".
