Other than "Forrest Gump", name one movie in which Tom Hanks was essential. Tom Hanks is likable and is a decent enough actor, but he is over-rated.

You name one actor who can strike up a believable relationship with a volleyball not named Tom Hanks.

I am surprised no one has mentioned Boiler Room.

Seven is one that'd make my top 10. I really, really thought Memento would get more mentions then it has. *sob

Also, not a single mention of Trainspotting?

"Trainspotting" was mentioned by someone.

I think "Boiler Room" was not mentioned simply because if you mention "Glengarry Glen Ross" you can't justify "Boiler Room".

I can't believe I forgot Seven!! And has American Beauty even gotten one mention so far? I probably should have thrown Sling Blade & Spirited Away somewhere in there, also.

I liked Spirited Away a lot too. What did you think of Howl's Moving Castle?

In addition, no one has mentioned "The Squid and the Whale", "Sideways", "Groundhog Day", "High Fidelity" or "Wonder Boys". None of those movies are in my top five, but they are all better than a number of the movies mentioned, including all Tom Hanks movies aside from "Forrest Gump".

Just realized that no one mentioned "L.A. Confidential".
