Depens on which one you're refering to, the Sidney Lumet original was quite suspensefull in my opinion, as opposed to William Friedkin's recent remake, which not nearly that gripping.
the original of course!! they made a remake?
hmm... did nothing for me.

No problem, everyone has different tastes, I for one couldn't sit through the likes of Anchorman, Napoleon Dynamite, Wedding Crashers, Dodgeball, and the two Matrix sequels.

Malkovich's Russian accent was by far the worst attempt at it I've ever heard.
Part of what makes the movie is Malkovich playing him soooooo over the top. Makes the character's lines much more entertaining. In class I break my peanut butter crackers & listen to them.
Also Nicephoras, I completely forgot about Office Space. & I have a freakin' red Swingline stapler in my classroom! ARGH!!!!

Same here, I can watch Office Space repeatedly and never get bored of it, definitely one of the bettter comedies in recent time. That answering machine bit was outrageous.

No no, how'd you get Swingers from Office Space?
I was refering to that scene where Ron Livingston's character (Peter) sleeps in as opposed to actually going to work, and Gary Cole's character (Bill Lumbergh) calls repeatedly and leaves mesages on his answering machine. When Peter checks them, the messages always started with ""hmmm...yea.., ...mmmmm yeaaaah"

are you making a pathetic attempt to make fun of my ADD?
i just didnt enjoy it. regardless of the "ground breaking multiple techniques"
was i stoked when dorothy got to oz and discovered colour? hell no.
was that last sentence zani-esque? lol
strike it from the record if so.
nicephoras, you have a fantastic weekend good friend.
:)
EDIT: connery's accent in "Hunt for Red October" was abysmal.
I disagree with you on Citizen Kane, phishy, but I know what you mean.
I tivo'd "The Last Picture Show" a few months ago because I had always heard about how groundbreaking it was and how it's always listed in a lot of critics' top films. I was unimpressed. Yes, some of the performances were good....but it just didn't interest me.
Maybe since you've lived in Texas you could tell me what I was missing?

Thinking of comedies I'm surprised no-one else has mentioned either of the Monty Python classics - Life of Brian and the Holy Grail(two of the funniest films of all time). You can also start throwing in Marx bros films and the class of Some Like It Hot....

Good shout - I still crack up every time I see the "bean eating" sequence in Blazing Saddles (juvenile as it is but who cares :D ). Carry On Screaming is quality as well (although you probably have to be English to enjoy that one properly)
