We all know Jose Francisco Cevallos, 77 caps from 1995 to 2004, was known as "los manos de Ecuador". Played almost his entire career with Barcelona SC and lead the team to the Copa Libertadores finals in 1998. The only goal keeper to play in a World Cup thus far.
Carlos Luis Morales, from 1987 to 1999, was a keeper for Ecuador. Like Cevallos, played his entire career *i think*, with Barcelona SC and also like Cevallos, led them to the Copa Libertadores finals the year 1990.
Now the third canidate is Pablo Andaso, and to be honest, I know very little of him, but maybe you all know more then me. I don't know how much caps he amassed, but his greatest accomplishment is bringing Ecuador very, very, very close to the World Cup the year 1964 *i think*.
now let the voting begin. if anyone can add more info on any of these players, by all means! :D

Cevallos also gets my vote. He is one of the reasons why Ecuador made it to Japan, very solid keeper. He also accomplised alot with Barcelona.

Just wanted to add that Cevallos is the only gk who beated Goicochea (after the '90 WC) in a penalty shoot-out!

And played one season with (ugh) Emelec. That's a stain in his record. ;)
I would definitively pick Cevallos, not only he equals Morales in club performance with the Libertadores final, but he qualified for and played our first World Cup.
Besides, during his prime, Cevallos was undisputed as Ecuador's keeper, unlike Morales who always had resistance in la Sierra, mostly because he's always been kind of a dick, and the serranos loved that crappy Superchiri (Héctor Lautaro Chiriboga).
Well, the fact that Cevallos was undisputed was also due to the fact that his competition were Jacinto Espinoza and Giovanni Ibarra, not precisely the safest hands we've ever had.
In Morales favor, you could argue that his performance in Barcelona's Libertadores run in 1990 was more decisive that Cevallos' in 1998. But that's just an opinion.

I agree, Cevallos just edges out Morales, but just barely. I admire them both for what they have done. I just wish Olmedo had one of them! :D but Corozo, even though he is pushing 40, is pretty damn good.

by the way, Ibarra is the worst goalkeeper I have even seen, and Gomez was an idiot for even using this bastard!

If cevallos is the best we ever had, than we have had some crappy keepers..he is above average at best...:( thats my honest opinion

This is like asking who is the greatest Ecuadorian president...? It's more of trying to select who was the least bad.
Cevallos has easily had the greatest moments, and is as close to an international quality goalkeeper as we've ever had. He will also go down as a legend for his penalty saving in the 2008 Libertadores. However, it's easy to forget that Fluminense scored 2 goals that day that a world-class keeper would have stopped.
However, at no time would I even consider him one of the top keepers in South America. He's simply the best we have, and he's great on his day, but for an international keeper he's pretty much average.

How about Garcia, Delgado, M. Rodriguez, Elizaga? They are or were good goalkeepers for Ecuador. A. Cevallos is up there for what he accomplished in LDUQ but as a goalkeeper, I think there were other goalkeepers that Ecuador has had. There were others such as Ruiz, Gonzalez, I cannot remember other names.

Delgado was a crap goalkeeper.
I still say Ansaldo. Cevallos and Morales are probably the best penalty stoppers we have, but they had HUGE flaws as goalkeepers.
