I thought I would start a thread for those who know something about Scotland to post formation/tactical predictions and wishes for the USA game. Have at it. Lets keep this thread to that so as to avoid the Sisyphean CONCACAF v UEFA and like discussions.

I'd certainly like to see Maloney, Webster, Gordon, Hartley, Quashie, Ferguson and Fletcher start. Filling in the blanks and finding a formation is a tougher job.
Possibly:
__________Gordon
Dailly__Webster__Weir__Alexander
_________Ferguson
___Fletcher______Quashie
_________Hartley
_____Maloney__O'Conner

I keep hearing mixed news as to whether Hartley is playing. If he is, that does not look to be a bad formation. If he is not, I'd move O'Connor back to his position and put Riordan up top.

Anything that ditches Ferguson gets my vote.

Anyway, as I mentioned in the other thread, I think that Scotland should be playing the ball on the ground and attacking. The US midfield is going to be questionable as is their leadership. Several of the better players in the Scotland squad are more accustomed to playing the attacking game and I don't think Scotland should risk many set pieces and corners in their own half with the heads of McBride and Onyewu lurking.

Pretty much agree with what's been said with the exception of the anti-ferguson stuff. Would like to see Mcfadden play up front with O'Connor at the start but expect a few younger players to come on later.
It's a matter of getting the balance right between continuity and experimentation. Not an easy thing to do, particularly when it's so difficult to predict the opposition line up.

Fergy was dreadful yet again today for the gers, I agree with Teso he needs to put on the bench.

_________Any one other than Fergy
___Fletcher______Quashie

and for the second half..... :D
I think this is a match to experiment in though.
I want to see the likes of Brown and Riordan get at least 45 mins! These lads are the future for the euro qualifying.

What do people think about giving younger defenders a chance because of the age of weir and dailly for example.
I'm thinking of maybe gary caldwell or anderson of aberdeen.

Start with this:
______________Gordon
Dailly____Webster____Weir____Alexander
_____Fletcher__Hartley__Quashie
Maloney____________________McFadden
_____________O'Conner
Finish with this:
______________Gordon
Caldwell___Webster__Anderson__Alexander
_______Fletcher__Hartley__Quashie
Brown_______________________Riordan
_____________O'Conner
I think making four subs is reasonable considering we have 5 players out and I don't think we need to see McCann, Murray, Douglas, Esson, Pressley, S Caldwell or Smith right now.
