Is the entirety of Greenock Morton's fanbase on BigSoccer? Really, how many are you?

Leave the kids alone. There must something in the water. :p

There's more of us than there is Livi fans, that's for sure ;) It's been a while since we've had a crowd as low as 1,531 anyway

http://www.greenockmorton.net/forum/ is a busy forum...especially after we lose!

Morton really do have a big fanbase for where we are.

I would almost wager that the majority of posters who claim a location in Scotland on BS are Morton supporters--I think I've seen a couple newbs around too. Although, understandably, Rangers supporters are getting increasingly difficult to find.

I think there is four of us. Not sure though.

Only 744 registered members? Poor show.

To be fair it's only been around since April and the big exodus from mortonunofficial only came in July. And being in Div 2 we don't attract many opposition fans registering!

What is the level of play in Div 2 like? Do the players get paid?

Our rejects become their best players. ;)

Morton players are full-time, they get paid around £500 a week, some players not so much as that, some players a little more.

I think Partick Thistle are also full time. Gretna have a millionaire owner and pay their players over £1000 a week. The rest of the teams are part time.

Morton are a bigger club than division 2, although we're down here on merit.

It's hard to say what the level of play is like, Partick were in the SPL 2 years ago and are now 3rd in div2 after 2 straight relegations.

In short div 2 has the standard of player who isn't quite good enough for the SPL. See Morton who have Harding, McLaughlin and Lilley who have quite afew games for Livi last season between them.

I met a handful of Div 3 players in Ullapool a few years back, though I can't remember the team. When they told me they were professional (which they seemed very proud of) I about shot a nose stream of Deuchars on them--I would not have even guessed they were athletic at all by looking at them. Shortly following that there was one of the several fist fights of the night to entertain me.

Here's pics of the Morton fans at a recent game away to St. Mirren, now that's what Scottish football is all about:

Eh?

McLaughlin (12 appearances), Harding (4 appearances) and Lilley (36 appearances) all were involved with Livi last season but weren't quite good enough and were released and found their level in division 2. Morton's team has many ex-SPL players who have not quite made the grade, or in the case of McLaren and Lilley are a little bit over the hill.

Although Harding has been shite on the whole, McLaughlin has been on the bench more often than not and until Saturday Lilley was feeling the full brunt of the boo boys after some very below par performances.

But lets not pretend Livi are a bigger club than Morton.

There is no need to pretend, as that comment is a complete untruth. All three players were shít and the only reason some got that much playing time was injuries and inept management. As for the fan issue above, that is what happens when you play in a competitive league were you don't get completely ripped off each week. People just don't like the SPL in general. It's not fun at all. :(

You forgot to add the bit about putting the lot of them up against the wall and shooting the shower of shiftless b*stards.

We're one of the best supported teams in the SFL, with a core support of around 2,500, around 30-40% of which regularly travels away.

Only 744 registered members? Poor show.

Remember how many accounts on LiviLions (mine included) are to point and laugh at Livi fans :)

That was quite a turnout--I've been to many Prem games with half that.
