As the cup final approaches, we can look at the two teams.
First we have the Surfing Scousers, led by LiverpoolFanatic. The team is based in Hawaii.
For inspiration the coach is reading "Faith of Our Fathers" to his team to get them fired up for the big final.
With that Liverpool influence, the Surfing Scousers have the slight edge going into the final. Not that I am biased or anything!! :)
The late season resurgence of the "Surfers" has shocked many a pundit as Liverpool Fanatic's success in fantasy stuff has led to more firing rumours than Glenn Roeder. But the turnaround in the new year has led to a great cup run and now the silverware beckons.
As for the opposition. 1-800 World Cup led by Michel, are perennial cup and league contenders. The manager's track record is second to none, except the legendary Leed's supporter from last year whose name escapes me right now!!
Michel led his team to a World Cup victory last summer (Kopite is still mad about his second place in that one) and he leads the UEFA Cup tournament at the moment.
Despite all this, he is seen as the underdog in this final due to the Surfers high scores in recent weeks. His European based team has the time difference to deal with and maybe be fattening up on Swiss chocolate. And having a coach who is a Spurs fan doesn't help either.
My prediction, Surfing Scousers win the first leg handily, but 1-800 makes a run at it with some crazy transferring in the second leg, but just fails to overcome the deficit.
Prediction: 131-126 to the Scousers

2nd leg with one match tomorrow still to go:
Surfing Scousers 64 v 37 1-800-World Cup
(total: 118-114)
World Cup will get 1 point for Watson subbing for Silvestre.
All rests on Teddy Sheringham tomorrow to see if Michel can pull off the win. Needs an assist or a goal to clinch it.
A no-goal or assist from Teddy and LF wins the cup. Couldn't be closer, all rests on the performance of one player tomorrow.
If he doesn't play, Fortune has 5 points sitting on the bench!!

Congrats LiverpoolFanatic on a stunning second leg comeback!
Well done to Liverpool Fanatic and his Surfing Scousers.
Consolation congradulations also to Michel's 1800-WorldCup.
Look forward to next year and possibly to competing against you in some MLS Fantasy Soccer games.
Thanks also to Michel for his web site and keeping track of the teams for Very Small Rocks throughout the season.
Finally, let me commend Mark for his work in keeping these internal competitions going. Having done this task in previous seasons, I appreciate all the work he puts into it. His efforts make the fantasy soccer participation much more enjoyable.

No problem, Hal. Thanks for that.
If only I'd enjoyed the "real" season as much :(
