That's funny, Adidas still makes more than Nike. And they've been around a lot longer.

I still don't see an answer to the Predator. And the Copa for that matter, the Legends are crap compared to Copas.

So why is it that they are trying to make the Predator Absolute appeal to a wider audience? I mean, it's pretty obvious that most people view the Pred as a midfielder's boot but hte downsized tongue, flashy looks etc make it seem that Adidas' people are trying to make it into a striker's boot perhaps?

The way I always viewed it was that F50+ = Attacking players, Predator = Defensive players (I know I'm gonna get hammered for that comment) but the Absolute makes that line a little more blurry. Whether it is to try and compete with Nike or whatever I think it's good adidas aren't sticking to boundaries. It's just a shame it has come a little too late (Vapors, Total 90 series etc).

That's my two pence worth on the issue. Oh, and if you're all going to hammer me, remember I'm a Nike man usually.

Weird how some young people are so easily brainwashed by Nike's marketingmachine... Although Nike likes to scream that they are innovative, it doesn't mean that they always are!

1. adidas comes out with Copa Mundial, nike brings out Legend. Nike doesn't have any soccerheritage so it's a FAKE Legend as well. the REAL Legend is the Copa Mundial which is over 20 years old.
2. I think the F50 and F50+ are way more innovative than anything Nike Soccer has brought out the last couple of years... The Vapor was introduced in 2002 and still gives me blisters!
3. F50 Tunit allows you to change from SG to FG to HG. One shoe for all surfaces: that's innovation
4. This comes from retailers & shops: the 2006 adidas soccerrange kicks nike's a**. Adidas brings out a new predator, new F50, 7406 and the Worldcup ball. Nike only has an updated Vapor and maybe the new AZT90 IV in Q3. Which nobody has seen yet because it's being re-designed as I write this. Probably nike's designers will be "inspired" by the new stuff from adidas & puma.

But I guess some people like to be brainwashed ;)

You oughta get hammered for that one - the line between attacking and defending oughta be very much blurry!!! Total Football!!

I think that it is largely marketing. Nike says, "hey this guy has fast feet, let's give him the vapor so everyone that is fast will buy these" like robinho or cronaldo, or "hey this guy is a pit bull who will fight to the bitter end, let's pay him to wear the azt line" like rooney (forward) or carlos (defender) I could go on and on but I am getting a bit off the topic of innovation and adidas does the a similar thing though to a lesser degree. I agree that nike are marketing maniacs and very good at it - but do not think they provide the consumer with better products than other companies.

Predators answered by total 90 series.
Copas answered by original tiempos (they were honestly the exact same boot)
I havent worn the legends and dont plan to...

Both adidas and nike have come out with their own original designs that just happen to have similar characteristics, but that is inevitable if they want to compete with eachother. You cant just have one brand make all the "light boots" and another make the "heavier comfortable boots" and another make "classic boots" etc etc...

Every company rips ideas from the other, it's big business. Would you say that Budwiser ripped off Miller because they both sell light beer?

Every compnay on earth has ripped the Copa off. The only current f-50 model like a vapor is the goal edition and i think they more so wanted to see how the synthetic upper would go over with players before the tunit was launched.

I like both companies but come on everyone steals from everyone. The only real innovations in shoes over the past 3-5 decades have ll been from adidas. The Copa alone is an innovation, direct injection outsoles, K-leather boots, screw in studs, bladed football boots ( I know CSCA Blades were first but they more for Rugby), and the Predator if you thik they really work.

how can u compare copas and legends copas came out so long ago im talking about releasing a new boot that has an old look and nike did make the livestrong bracelts but either way nike started making balller bands way before they made the livestongs and im not brainwashed im just saying what i see everytime i look in a eurosprt and adidas realeases a product that resembles a product nike came out with like 5 months ago. i didnt say adidas never made anything new ever. the reason nike doesnt have answer to all the crap adidas projects is because there not ripping their products off

OMG, lol! These guys were so buzy, they even made the version of Total 90 4's! I think they look more like Total 90 4's, rather than x-boot. Too bad, I heard Nike discarded this design.
