Hi everyone. New member here. I recently became interested in the team and have tried to learn as much as I can from the net. I came across a jersey that I really like, however I could not find it for sale anywhere so far, including ebay. It is a goalkeeper jersey from 2004-2006, white with light blue trims on the side.

The unique thing is that the Vodafone logo is in a white stencil. Apparently the jersey became the first choice in a game when the black keeper shirt clashed with the referee or the opposition. I will try to post a picture below. If anyone can tell me more about it, or where to get it, that would be much appreciated. Thank You.

Having a quick look at it I think (not sure at all) that it was part of the training kit and was used by Fabien Barthez in a pre-season game away at Stoke City.

IIRC his shirt did indeed clash with the referee's and he was asked to change during the first half, he initially put on a sweatshirt worn by one of the coaching staff but appeared in the second half wearing the shirt you've pictured.

That game was probably the final nail in the coffin for Barthez as Stoke won 3-1 and Fabien being made out to be a bit of a clown as one of the Stoke goals was a chip shot that rebounded off the crossbar before hitting Barthez on the backside and roling over the line.

I'll try and find a picture if I've got time.

For now I can only find this from the megawhore, which is probably it's successor:

Lol, you can probably ignore everything I just said as this appears to have been our training kit at the time:

Might be a training shirt but I don't think that any of United's kits feature a short sleeve goalkeeping shirt.

hmmm...good point about the short sleeve goodkeeper shirt. I'll post the link to where I found it. Seems to be a creditable site

I have this one:

I've seen that picture of the first one before, but never in a game or in person...

Was it an "official" kit or an Asian knock-off? Sometimes they "guess" and sell kits on eBay...

The reason I thought it might have been something Barthez wore was because he sometimes favoured the short-sleeve look.

The only thing I can suggest is to E mail the admin at that website and ask them. I've come across them before as I recall reading on a different message board in the past that they were getting hassled from the FA about publishing the fixture list without a license or official authorisation and said they were going to try and get round it by advertising hotels in the area instead of just publishing the list. Anyway, they seemed like an ok bunch then so they may very well give you an answer.

hi
i am quite sure that the shirt was sold (entirely official by kitbag/megastore) as one of the GK shirts released at the same time as our current home kit. i remember that i also thought i was a pretty nice kit, but got puzzled by the fact that it was never worn. this is maybe not so strange considering that it has the same (type of) color as the other away GK shirt in the same package shown above by M..man. if you look at the home GK shirt from last season (black) you see that the resemble each other quite a lot conserning model and such. but it was sold for a long time by and you can probably find one on ebay...

It could also be an early prototype, or an announced kit that was never released...

yep, that seems pretty likely. but it was sold as a GK kit however, but i have never seen it worn in match or training.
