Enjoy.
Much appreciated, but my Mac doesn't recognise files with the ".exe" format.
A question: why isn't SIgames promoting the try-n-buy on their site?

The try and buy is PC only unfortunately.
Because it wasn't ready to go until 2am in London, so some of the people weren't ready, it should be on the front page tommorow.

Still using 01/02 here. Hope I can run the new one--I'll go ahead and cancel my appointments for this year.

Pretty good so far, playing with Bristol Rovers have 2 wins and a loss three games into the season.
I am enjoying it thouroughly.

what are the system req's?
From the box:
Operating System: Windows 98 SE [XP SP2 recommended]
Mac OSX 10.2 and above [10.3 recommended]
Processor: PC: 800Mhz processor
[Pentinum III/AMD Athlon, 2.0GHz or above recommended]
Mac: 600 MHz PowerPC G4,
[PowerPC, 1.8GHz G5 or above recommended]
Memory: PC: 128MB RAM [256MB RAM recommended]
Mac: 256MB RAM
Disk Space: 650 MB
Display Resolution: 1024 x 768
CD-ROM Drive: 4x CD ROM [8x CD ROM Recommended]
Sound Card: Direct X 8.1 compatible sound card
Connectivity: Ethernet Connection
(for networked play)
The thing about the game is, it's pretty flexible, if you have a monster machine you can play a ton of leagues with a massive database.
If you have near the lower end you can't run nearly as much.
Also some people tend to play the game very slowly so they can get away with it not being very quick to process, others want the game to fly past and so think a slower machine is un playable.
I'd personally saying a 2ghz+ and 512megs of ram would be ideal to run 2 or 3 leagues on the normal db, but that's me.
The more ram (up to a point, probably not much difference past 1 gig or so) and faster the chip the better.
The graphics card and sound card are pretty irellevant.

I put in the 5 major countries/leagues and it goes pretty slowly, maybe 2 weeks in an hour if there are a few matches in that time. But that allows me to do homework etc. and just generally take it easy.

Aye, I can't function without 10 nations.

How slow do you guys run?? I run about 13 leagues and it takes as long as I said earlier. But I have a brand new Dell Laptop (that may be), plus I run some programs in the background.

According to a posting on the Operation Sports soccer games forum, Graeme Kelly of SI Games says thusly:
"The game is based on the second build of the 6.0.1 patch. When patch 6.0.2 comes out, there will be a separate/special version for the WWSM Digital Download version."

Aye, I can't function without 10 nations.
I always seem to end up with over 20. Though I appear to have ruined the database after tinkering with the editor, looks like I'll have to wait for an update before starting another new game.

WWSM also has Harchester United in its game (from 'Dream Team'), but they can be only accessed for friendlies and exhibitions and only when you don't tick them in the preferences. But you can put them in the game by downloading the HUFC patch at:
http://www.fmunited.net/harchester/update.htm
Just back up your db file in the main WWSM directory and change the installation path of the patch to program files/sports interactive/worldwide soccer manager 2006/data/db. You need to do that or it will create a similar directory for *football manager 2006*. Thing is, it replaces Wigan in the Premiership with Harchester, which does suck; why couldn't they replace Everton or another relegation zone team? :D

anyone buy this through the download?
I cannot find this game anywhere and this is pretty much my last resort. my question is though, does it leave you something that you can burn as a back-up copy incase i reformat my computer or something.
would be a waste if the only way you could have a back-up is to pay them an extra $10. I mean you pay full price for the game and dont even get a manual.
so ya? can you save the file they give you to download and re-install later if needed?

I did it, had some problems after about a month when I had to email them but they just sent me my registration number after I gave them the hardware footprint and everything was alright.
However about the formating the HD I believe the footprint would be the same, I am not sure but it should be, you'll have to look it up on their website.
Also, you get PDF of the manual when you install. Also you get two different hardware footprints to install on incase you want it on both your laptop or desktop or something, etc.
Overall, I am happy with this download because it means I actually get to play.
