I downloaded this and it looks pretty cool. This is my first time playing this and I am having some troubles.

I'm using FF Lilliehammer and just can't get any new players. I don't really know what kind of offers to give though, I'm just taking the "assistant coach advice" like he'll say "we should offer this guy $550 per/week" so that's all I offer them. I am only allowed to offer up to $600 p/w and I have a total of $37,000 to spend on transfers... I've been going after guys who's overall value is less than $10,000 but even guys with a $3,000 value won't sign with me. What do I gotta do to get more players?

Also, I can't get anyone to schedule a friendly with me, not even Faroe Island clubs. When it says "fee"... is that what I offer to pay them or what I ask them to pay me... or something completely different? I have tried $0 and some other values ($1k, $5k, $45k) when challenging different clubs but no one will accept.

Also, I discovered the section where you can comment on other coaches... what exactly is the effect of this? What happens if I praise another coach, or say something negative about him? Does this affect the game at all or is it just there as something to spice up the game a little for the user but doesn't really do anything? I tried to praise a random Iceland team to hopefully get them to accept a friendly, but they still declined it. :(

Finally, how does the "continue" button work? Sometimes it only takes me ahead a few hours in the same day, one time it skipped over 4 days. Is there a way to set how far ahead it goes, is it a specific amount each time, or is it just random like it appears to be?

So basically, looks like a fun game but I'm just having trouble setting up friendlies and getting new players. Appriciate any help, thanks. :D

Okay. To sign players, you have to do a whoooooooole lot of looking to find a player who fits your transfer budget and your payroll budget and who wants to play for your club. Players who play for a more prestigous club than the one you're managing usually won't sign with you, even if their club accepts your transfer offer and you offer them a higher salary than what they are currently earning. Assign your scouts to search for players. They'll help you find realistic targets.

Basically though, you just have to look at tons of players. There's dirt cheap players with good attributes hidden on crappy teams and on reserve squads and stuff like that, you just have to find them.

For friendlies, usually the less prestigous clubs will be more willing to play you. The fee is what you pay them and is only for home matches. Basically how it works is that because it's at your stadium, you'll get all the revenue and the fee is what you are offering them as their cut. Try scheduling away friendlies, maybe the other clubs will be more willing that way.

When you comment on other coaches, it will sometimes affect your players' morale. A well placed 'we're gonna kick your ass' type comment can help boost the morale of certain players, but it seems like it can also negatively affect your own 'professionalism' attriubte. I'm assuming this makes it harder to get hired at a better club, but I don't know since I've never tried to leave the Crew.:D Overall, the comments seem to me to have a pretty minimal overall effect.

The 'continue' button will just take you ahead until something significant happens. I've never tried to find a way to adjust it, it always seemed to work pretty well to me.

Anyway, I hope this is helpful. This game is great fun once you get the hang of it and very addictive. The trial version will only let you play for like 3 or 6 months into your season, or something like that. I bought the full version and in my opinion, it was well worth the 30 bucks.

Enjoy! :)

What should I do when my guys are "unfit"?

Should I sit them out for a few matches until they get back into shape? Should I rest them from training? Should I train them harder to get them in shape? Should I play them in matches to get the "match fit"? I'm not sure what I need to do to get them back to a normal condition rating.

Also what ratings should I look at to determine who my best players are? I've got numerous guys who I've been trying at various positions but I still can't field a successful team (I've won one game and I'm almost to the midpoint in the season). I think its mainly because I'm just guessing at where to put guys. I know it has their position like "D L" which I'm assuming is left defense, but I have a couple guys with each position and I don't know who's better than who, so I just kinda have to guess at who to start each game.

Is this after matches? If so, they normally get back up before the next match they are just tired. (but that normally says they are 'tired after last match') However, if its at the beginning of a season, they just need games to game match fitness. At the end of the season then they are just tired and in need of a rest after a long season :D.

Above.

There are certain attributes to which each position needs, just think about it like real life. If you want to look for which winger to pick, I like to look for good pace, crossing, accerlation, stamina, etc. (all according to what level you are playing at, Man Utd are going to better than Chester, etc.) Just think about it like real life.

Also, a side note. Are you playing World Soccer Manager download? If so, the old patch is harder (for me at least) and they haven't brought out the new patch (which apparently makes the game alot easier if you are having trouble getting wins in) for the download version. This version will be 6.0.2 and should come out sometime this week (I HOPE!!!).

When you click on a player's and their profile comes up, click on the option on the left that says "positions." I think that's a big help when I'm trying to figure out who to put where.

Alright, what would you say would be "good" stats to look for with the type of team I have (FF Lillehammer in Norwegian 2nd Division)? Like for example, what kind of crossing would be good? 5? 10? 15? Something else?

BTW thanks for all the help!

Honestly I really don't know. I would have to assume the level of play in the Div 1 Norwegian is about 1st division England? So the second be about 2nd or conference.

Then I would say the good players will be from 10-15 and good enough 8-12, in that area. Really you just have to take what you can get. Also, look at what the other poster said, that is a help to see where they will play the best. You could also try getting an assistant report, that will (sometimes) give you a good indication, but just use it as a start point because it is really not that good at guessing players.

For the try and buy is it 6 months game time or 6 months regular time?

6 months game time.

And for the record, I just started playing this game in the last month or so and holy crap it's addictive. Nearing the end of my third season with Yeovil Town and I'm fighting for a playoff spot in the Championship. I'm gonna laugh my ass off if I get them premoted to the Prem for 2008.

One question I've always had is how can you force a club into a stadium expansion? I got them to improve training facilities but the whole 9,000 capacity (of which only 5,000 is seated) is killing revenue on gameday. Nonetheless, I've managed to increase profits to about $5 million through shrewd player purchasing and selling. Now I'm not saying that's enough to do anything awesome to the stadium but surely they can do some sort of expansion with that.

How is WWSM different from Football Manager?

Beyond the title, obviously.

Is the language different?
(USA english vs British english.)

Thanks.

That's what I was afraid of.
I'm thinking of getting this for the xbox360, looks like I'll have to get the british version, since I doubt I'll be able to patch the 360 version.

Thanks for the info.

The British version will work on a US xbox360?

I've read on the CM boards that the current XBox360 version will, so I'm assuming the new version out later this year will also.

Of course, I've been wrong before...
