I've just got home so I missed the build up and line up.

It looks like this (from what I can see)

--------------Steele
-------Bardsley------Lee
Simpson-----------------Eckersley
--------Jones----Gibson
Neurmayr-----------------Martin
-------------------Rossi
--------Blake

The wind is awful. Blackburns ground is very close to the Irish Sea (i'm sure people care) and it has played havoc in the opening minute with a goal for Blackburn..

A cross was lofted in high and the wind blew it over the keeper into the net

1-0

and as I type this Simpson crosses with a low drive which Rossi puts home.

1-1

:D

....they play their reserve games at Morecambe don't they ? so yes it's practically IN the Irish Sea

Very open game and Blackburn don't look like a quality side which suggests we're gonna get a few clear cut chances to score.

Yes and the ground is very open. Seating is sparse so the breeze is all over the pitch. Actually it's more like a gust.

Blackburn corner.

Huge looping cross(it is clearly a tactic used with the intention of catching the wind) flies over the penalty area and is headed at Steele he parries and then the rebound is put wide.

I've just seen Fox with the captain's armband so my inital guess was wrong

--------------Steele
-------Bardsley------Evans
Simpson-------------------Lee
----------Fox----Gibson
Neurmayr-----------------Martin
-------------------Rossi
--------Blake

I would guess. Gibson clips the bar with a cross come shot (wind assisted)

Neither team is playing well and the wind is affecting our passing game. I hope it dies down or this game may go either way.

Another huge looping cross by Bb almost put in. Clearly set pieces will be a problem all night.

This looks like it's going to be a miserable and choppy game if the wind doesn't die down. The play is not flowing at all. Blackburn are hoofing it in the air and we are trying to not get caught out by this tactic and because of the wind the players are wary of trying to zip passes along the ground.

I think as you would expect of a Blackburn side they are very physical and are putting in some fierce tackles. The wind has died down quite a bit, thankfully.

LOL

this boy.....

Rossi with the goal of the season so far.

Neumayr puts in a gentle ground pass....Rossi pretend to take it on his right foot, but instead lets it roll across his body..totally rooting the CB to the spot he then hits it high and curling with outswing into the top left corner leaving the keeper with no chance. Brilliant show-reel goal.

2-1 United.

Rossi x2

Gsme has died down a bit , but since the wind has settled Blackburn look like the poor side I thought they were in the first few minutes. If the wind stays down we should bag another 2.

Rossi isn't touching the ball much, but his touches have all been telling and he put a header narrowly wide. He'll most likely bag his hat-trick by the end of the game.

Blake does a Romario and puts the ball in from one of the most acute angles using an instep lift to make the ball bend into the far post(his left) after a hoof clearance from our keeper down the right wing.

3-1 United

Rossi x 2
Blake

I still expect more. Maybe 2 or 3.

Sounds like a carbon copy of a goal that Rooney scored against Fenerbahce on his debut. Maybe someone can back me up, i can't remember if it happened exactly as you described it, but still, Rossi's in good company. :)

Similar body roll and phase shift but on the oppsite side of the pitch. Rooney's shot as a right footed thunderbolt low driven into the goal from about 25yards out.

Rossi's was just outside the box and was high and curled. Great company indeed. Actually, I don't think anyone else in United's entire squad could do that except Rooney. It was a brilliant goal.
