Do you think that we should start using video technology in football?
I think that it would prove ver useful in resolving disputes in the game.

i think its inevitable and a great thing if its used correctly. you cant use it to nitpick at everything, but for game deciding situations.. like a dive in the penalty area or to see if the ball has crossed the goal line.

Video review is only feasible in games that have a lot of natural stoppages. If you stop just to look at the video, you've interruped the play. If the video review shows play shouldn't have been stopped, how are you going to restore play to the dynamic situation it was in?

Referees stop games when they shouldn't be stopped at the moment, because they have misread the situation.

The only video technology I think that should be used is a review of a potential dive. If on video review a player intentionally took a dive to deceive the ref that player should be fined and suspended for a match or two.
I would hope that this would suppress, what I think, is a low point of the game. A game should not be decided by a cheater and a player who is good actor.
Of course, this review would be done after the game is over. Would the win stand if a player was found to have cheated, yes but hopefully the suspension and heavy fine would be enough to stop him in the first place.

A game should not be decided by a cheater and a player who is good actor..but it should be decided by an imcompetent linesman? yeah. by all means

What?
How does that at all pertain to what I said to have the potential dive reviewed after the game and impose fines and suspensions?
What does an incompetent linesman have to do with anything?

it has everything to do with everything. the main reason people want this is because the game has become too fast for the linesmen to keep up and therefore theyre making the wrong call 75% of the time.

The only use of video replay I would support is to determine whether a goal has been scored or not. Thats it. It'd be easy and accurate and wouldn't disrupt the game to a large degree.

All the other ideas to use it to look at offside or (heaven forbid!!) dives (gasp!!) is freaking crazy!

i wouldnt mind it being used for violent or dirty play. a fifth official could follow the game on tv and determine when someone does something that warrants a red card. that wouldnt interfer with game play at all.
