And since they're not opening it up to the public, that means not all the applications got filled (unless the number of tickets available was exactly the same as the number requested in the pre-sale). Which means that unless this thread is wrong and we do indeed find out by Jan. 14, anyone who submitted applications to USSF but doesn't get tickets will get screwed out of applying thru FIFA as well.
COMPLETELY. ********ING. INEXCUSABLE.
Couldn't agree more. The USSF has set up a situation which hurts its most loyal fans. There is NO excuse for that. They should have worked over the holidays, nights and weekends to get this addressed. They should also be petitioning FIFA to get the FIFA window extended.
I wonder if any other Federations are having as difficult a time as the USSF. If so, then FIFA will get forced to extend their deadline, if not, then USSF is exposed as one of the worst run federations in FIFA (at least of those who qualified for the World Cup).

Whats worse than that is they are almost certainly setting up a situation where less of an already minority US presence (relative to Italy, Czech Republic) will attend the matches. Are they trying to ensure attendance by as few Americans as possible?

I told her I sent mine in on the 2nd day, she would not comment if I even had a chance. She said everyone would be notifed, mid to late January. Is the same person who claimed "the fax machine" was broken?

Information related to Unsuccessful Ticket Applications for 2006 FIFA World Cup
Thank you to all Australian fans who applied for tickets to the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany.
As you are aware, demand far exceeded supply for the tickets available and FFA Travel received well over 22,000 applications.
FFA Travel started the process of informing successful World Cup ticket applicants from 2pm Friday 23 December and concluded this process on January 2 2006.

I started another string that talked about Australia's federation. Email entries were fine and they processed all their applications during xmas and new years. The USSF is an international disgrace.

Bravo! Now there's an organization that has it's shet together. Email entries, pre-January 15th confirmations...I'll be damned! Maybe our mates at U.S. Soccer will take some notes and see how a professional governing body that actually cares about its fans takes care of things.

I thought the plan was to have the USSF win the incompetence award by 2010. We might be bringin' home the title this year!

And here I was thinking that a federation sending a team to its 5th consecutive WC would be more prepared than one sending a team to its first in decades.

DEMAND FOR 2006 FIFA WORLD CUP TICKETS EXCEEDS U.S. SOCCER ALLOTMENT
No Public Sale for Tickets to Take Place in United States
CHICAGO (January 5, 2006) – U.S. Soccer announced Thursday that the demand for tickets for the 2006 FIFA World Cup during the ussoccerfan.com pre-sale has exceeded the organization’s ticket allocation and there will be no public sale in the United States for the world’s most popular sporting event.
A public sale had tentatively been scheduled for Friday, January 6 in the event the demand for tickets during the private sale did not exceed U.S. Soccer’s allotment.
Fans are encouraged to continue to check ussoccer.com for further information on how to be put on a public sale waiting list, should the situation change.
SPECIAL NOTE: Ticket orders for fans that participated in the private sale are being processed and applicants will be notified on or before January 14 as to their status. This will enable those applicants who do not receive tickets to participate in the third stage of the FIFA World Cup Ticket sale on line at fifaworldcup.com. For those fans taking part in the ussoccerfan.com pre-sale that will not be receiving tickets from U.S. Soccer’s ticket allotment, they will be placed on the priority waiting list based on when their order was submitted.

Holy Cow! USSoccer makes a public announcement(not just through a phone call) and it is only two days after their self-imposed deadline! They'll move up to second class organization in no time.
