He'll buy a Ballack shirt?
Of course, it's Sir Manchester who will be happiest - having a Bayern Munich, a Germany NT and a Manchester United kit all with Ballack on the back. :)

Opposition Interview: Michael Essien
New Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has taken the Premiership by storm since joining from Olympique Lyonnais in the summer.
Chelsea visit Manchester with a formidable, unbeaten record in the Premiership and, Essien says, full of confidence.
The Ghanian international spoke to United Review ahead of Sunday's showdown with the Reds and says he is relishing the opportunity to play at Old Trafford and to meet his footballing idol...
After a transfer saga in the summer, you finally signed for Chelsea just before the start of the season. How do you feel you’ve settled at Stamford Bridge?
[Laughs] I am fine, thank you. I’m feeling really well. Everything is going smoothly… and I also feel incredibly excited about playing at Old Trafford for the first time in my career. It’s a magnificent venue. I’d say it is a mythical stadium where the spectators are real connoisseurs of the game. I am very much looking forward to the atmosphere. I haven’t been in England for long but I fully understand you can’t get much bigger nowadays than a Manchester United–Chelsea bill!
Chelsea are clear leaders and you come to Manchester with an unbeaten record in the Premiership. Do you feel unbeatable?
I am not sure I can say that. As we say: “So far, so good”. All I know is that our start to the campaign has been good. But winning the league is like running a marathon. It is all very well to get off to a good start, be the front runner, but you also want to be able to cross the finish line first. The Premier League is far from over. We have to focus on doing the job, carry on getting positive results and bagging the points.
Like other European giants, United were following your progress last season while you were still playing for Lyon. Were you tempted by United before agreeing to join Chelsea?
The clubs you’ve just mentioned are amongst the finest in Europe – it is certainly true for Manchester United who won the Champions League in 1999 in spectacular fashion – but I have to say Chelsea really showed a great interest in me from the word go. The amount of money they put on the table to get me shows how committed they were.
Which United players do you admire?
There are so many great names in the squad… I’ve enjoyed watching so many of them along the years but I have to admit there is one in particular I admire…Roy Keane! He is truly world class and he has always been one of my footballing heroes. He has all the leadership qualities I like in a footballer. When I was a younger player, he inspired me. I have the greatest respect for who he is and what he has achieved. Apart from being involved in this great tie today, playing here is also a chance for me to meet Roy. I wouldn’t have missed such an opportunity. For that alone, I am glad I’ve chosen to come to England!
How do you foresee the game against United?
I think they are struggling a bit right now, but the fact remains: Manchester United are our fiercest rivals for the title. I see them as our number one challengers this season. The game today will therefore be extremely interesting. I believe it will be red hot, in the most noble sense of the word: there will be total commitment on both sides. I hope Chelsea will eventually overcome.
Given all the outside sources I've quoted in the past week, EVERYONE should know who they need to "spread their rep" to ;)

I was wondering.. what do you guys think of Quinton Fortune? I read up his page on the Manutd.com website and I didn't know he was at United since 1999 (after all, I only started following in ~2001). His contract is also due to run out this season 2005/2006, and he's not been offered a new contract yet, most probably because he has a tendency to get injured.
Fortune did, if I recall correctly, display two fine performances against AC Milan in the CL last year.. I think he got MOTM for one of the legs, and performed well for the other. Well, regardless, what do you guys think? I only started watching matches consistently this year so I've never really seen much of Fortune in action, and am not qualified to judge...

In terms of quality, I don't rate Fortune much. But what I like about him is that he does have a combative spirit, and of all our squaddies he probably likes to get stuck in the most. Losing him wouldn't be a huge loss, but I wouldn't classify Fortune as deadwood.
At the moment he is captain of South Africa, IIRC and not playing week in week out won't exactly hurt his international chances. So if he's willing to just continue being a backup player in the squad, I wouldn't mind seeing his contract extended by a a year. If he was fit right now, I would have preferred him to the current O'Shea at leftback...there would be the occasional defensive lapse, but once he gets a few games under his belt, he becomes pretty consistent and occasionally puts in a very commendable performance.
