They won't have as much guns as suburbanites do I'll tell you that. They won't have enough time to make firebombs and use them as they will be cut down before they can even lift their arms.
umm acctually these people would have guns in fact probably better ones than the cops and they would use molotovs which would be built elsewhere not in front of the cops so they wouldnt have a chance to get shot and explain how shooting the people is supposed to stop the violence. these people have families and im sorry but if someone just mows down members of my family i would fight back and so would basically everyone i know inciting even more riots and violence making the situation worse not better

We're not talking about America you dip*******. France was not founded by immigrants. You're liberal and semi-socialist laws, along with your native French people not having enough babies and the muslim immigrants reproducing like rabbits, is going to end up Balkanizing the whole region. But hey, you're right about everything.
France has the best demographics in Europe along with Ireland, wrong example mate.

If there's a riot, and the rioters make their way to the suburbs, there will be a lot of gunplay. The rioters usually aren't well armed, compared to the people who are at their house defending it. You watch too many American movies to think that people from the street are well armed. The most that the majority have is hand guns and maybe a few automatic weapons. The suburbanites, however, usually a well armed.
umm actually if you would pay attention to the news many times when the police make a bust they seize several semi automatic weapons such as uzis and anyways most guns used for self defense are ussually handguns and maybe the odd shotgun but theres rarely any law abiding citizen who has a high powered rifles or semi automatic weapons at their house

In a few generations, the ethinic Mexicans will outnumber everyother race in the southwest by atleast 6 to 1. When that happens and there isn't sufficient assimilation, like in France with muslims, they will simply start taking power through voting. Eventually calling for sesession. There are already small elements at work. Right now they're small and laughable, but in a few generations at the rate the face of the southwest is changing, they're not going to be so funny.
umm your forgetting alot of these people are illegal immigrants meaning that unless they apply for refugee status/landed immigant stauts and are approved by washington they are not u.s citizens thus they cannot vote

They're busting gangs and such. Not going to a regular joe's house. WTF are you talking about? Half the people on my street have high powered rifles and one even has an M16. This is pretty common here.
exactly they are busting gangs are you telling me that when there is an excuse to fight the cops the gangs arent going to be right there and ok your street may be full off m16s ect ect but i highly doubt that your street is typical of the u.s

YankBastard has never lived in France, nor has ever seen France, nor has he ever spoken to a French person. Let alone know anything of its society, politics or history. He can't even back anything up without referring to the US which is irrelevant.
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have hypocrisy and a large chunk of ignorance.
Congrats, you are officially the most retarded poster to comment on these outbursts.
Want a job in the UMP? I think the NF won't have you because you seem too incoherent and stupid.

This thread is now reopened:
This is a warning to people who post here. Anyone who decides to take matters into their own hands and spout racism, xenophobia and any other offensive crap, it will be deleted post haste and the situation will be brought up with the supermods for a forum ban and possible yellow card.
There is a lovely thread on the P+CE board here (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=262124) which you can use to discuss this issue, where you can use, shall we say the lovely and colourful P+CE rhetoric. I am hoping that this thread can be used for progressive discussion about the current issues surrounding the riots in Paris and its effects on the French society, particular amongst our French friends and Francophiles. If you feel the need to spout ignorant and belligerent crap, then do so on the link provided. I will not tolerate any instance of out right trolling intended to wind up the people here…
Feel free to come and ask questions and raise issues, but remember the TOS. There is ignorance of such an issue, and then there is out-right ignorance bordering to the point of personal attacks and stupidity.
I hope that everyone can keep the discourse on topic and rational, and although the incidents have been perpetrated by a few (or chiefly one individual) let me tell you, that this is a soccer board and any irrelevant issues or personal bitch slapping will not be tolerated by P+CE regulars wishing to continue their mannerisms here on the French board
Again, I hope that we can continue where we left off and carry on the challenging debate. I apologise for letting some of the stuff carry on for a while, and I hope this cooling off period has relaxed everyone somewhat.
Thanks

I have only one question: Is it true that trains from CDG to central Paris run through the affected neighborhoods? The US State Department warns against taking those trains because they have been targets, but I need better confirmation than some hack at the State Department.
We're still going in two weeks. If riots still are going on at that point, we'll reconsider, but it looks like Paris is calming down, even as other towns heat up.

The train your talking about is the RER Northeast line, and yes it does go through the affected area. I would just take a cab, or a shuttle to your hotel. That line is sketchy at the best of times anyways.
I wouldn't let all this affect your travel plans.

Its really suprising to me that only 1 death has occured. With so many arsons happening only 1 death is amazing.

Mostly empty cars or buildings that should be empty at midnight such as schools are being lit.
The way I see it is this:
This situation will be VERY tricky for the French government. France has not "melting pot" tradition. As a result, being French is a total commitment, which is not really as difficult if you're a white Polish Christian. But if you're a "walnut-colored" Muslim from Morocco, assimilation is darn near impossible because of the vast cultural, colored and religious gap. Learning the language is the least of your worries.
Most people outside of France, and even many within France, don't know the number of subdivisons within France, such as the Basques and Heugenots (French Protestants), to name two. Assimilating those cultures into what is commonly thought of as "France" was a long and bloody process. Some of you may remember that Bixente Lizarazu was the target of death threats because he played for France even though he is a Basque.
At any rate, I belive that the challenge of asslimiating Muslims into French culture and French life has not truly been even thought about. We can expect many more of these types of riots before French Muslim citizens are equal partners in France.

It surprises me when people from outside France see them as "Muslims" because they're much more young than muslim, they are teenagers and their message could be briefly resumed as .... "**** the society" basically. Moreover not all of them are muslims, And when they are, if you ask these young guys if they believe in God or not, I'm pretty sure they'll respond you in the negative, cause even if they may hate the idea, they're french after all ...

Apparently the guy who died, did so while putting a fire out in the front of his appartment...
