Those in that thread who are objecting to MLS expanding into Canada are missing a very salient point. Garber has already stated publicly that it is in the interests of US soccer that the entire region be developed. The US national team will certainly benefit from having another competitive regional rival and putting MLS in Canada he believes, and so do many others, will help achieve that.

I like the post suggesting the MLS team in Toronto would employ 'all the Canadians' in MLS and open up their roster spots for Yanks.
That's two spots (3 I guess, if you count US resident Will Johnson) to further USA development!

Still playing for the Earthquakes this season. Would be 37 by the time a Toronto should be playing, however.

Clearly then the Canadian players have made a profound impact, greater than their numbers might warrant (less than 2%). That can only be good ;-)
