Stadium Stands

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I was watching the Fire/DC game today and noticed the stands behind one of the goals were "pushed in". I was wondering if anyone could tell me why there is a need to push in the stands when it doesn't affect the field of play?

We share the stadium with baseball. In order to configure the stadium for both sports, they had to remove some of those seats. (That's the short version)

They ripped out our home to accommodate a baseball outfield. The small comfort I take from that is knowing people pay absurd amounts of money at baseball games to sit in seats we Norteños jump on and trash for $15. :D
