There are some great ideas here, and we should act on them. Heres three things that i think would get us off to a great start:

1. flyers - example:

Its About Time Philly Gets an MLS Franchise!:

email or call __blank___ to learn more and see how you can help out.

2. a simple website, explaining our goals; a reference point.

3. an online petition

What i would do right away, is make flyers. Distribute them everywhere. I would leave my email address, and people would email me (ex. PhillyMLS@blank.com) asking how they could help out. I would send them the flyers, and they would distribute them in their area. I think it would work out. Or if we can make a website, the flyer would have the address on it. And people can print the flyer right off the website. Basically this spreads the word, and lets people know Philly has a chance. Because there has been zero media attention in this area about the possibility of an MLS franchise, and this worries me.

Also, who can we email? Rendell? Comcast? I have no idea. If we find somebody that would help us get a franchise, we could put their email on the website and they would be showered with emails.

I figure we have nothing to lose. I really believe that acting on this would go a long way.

Many post efforts in other cities started with having a large gathering of existing fans, who iron out what they want to accomplish.

Perhaps that should be the first step.

Ok, yea.

I am willing to make a website. But it would be a very basic one. If there is anybody that could make a really nice one, that would great. A legitimate good-looking website would help people take us more seriously.

Some ideas for the site:

A good punch line, or opening statement. Something that will draw the person in.

A printable version of the flyer - we would ask people to print out copies and hand them out. This would be the one most important objectives.

A list of the possible sites for an SSS talked about here.

Pictures of other MLS SSS's - general information, maybe try to sell MLS a little bit.

I thought the original poster was talking about the Flyers for a second.

But welcome newbie and fellow Philadelphia soccer fan!

As for a possible punchline, I would go along the same theme lines of the current Nike/US Soccer pitch: join now the movement of soccer's growing significance in this country.

I dont really care if Philly's team is called the Atoms. I just want a team and a SSS. But this person could help us create a website.

Do you know the person who owns that site? I would be interested to see what they thought of this thread.

Does it really matter if no one is going to foot the money for a SSS and the money to invest in a team? I mean, what's the point anymore.

(Welcome as well. I see you're from Glenside, I live in Horsham and work at Abington Hospital.)

I would contact the Philadelphia Sports Congress, the people who are trying to get the Olympics to Philadelphia in 2016. Try to see what resources they have in terms of investors and potential operators. Maybe you can ride on their coattails a bit. If they have someone who wants to build the Olympic Stadium, for example, try to partner with them so that the stadium would have a tenant after the Olympics. Or if they're not that far along with their development of the Olympic proposal, see what other resources they have and work them.
I know I have been banging the Olympics drum for a while now, but I think it's the best chance we have of getting a team and a stadium.
